Wifey lived in Greenpoint when we started dating... her apt was $2000 a month and she moved in with me and started charging $3000 a month

The revenue :wow:

Problem with what's going on in NYC is they are building a lot of new luxury stuff, when it should have been more of a balance. I could have stayed in NYC if I could have got a 3BR place in a safe neighborhood for ~300K. You cant even get a studio for that much

I live with three other people and I pay $850 a month...TBH our apartment is overpriced (2400 three bedrooms) and the building is riddled with problems. There are more than likely cheaper spots around. On Eldert St. & Irving (where I was today) there's a new one bedroom complex complex that's opening up...no word on prices since it's fairly new.

Crown Heights, I'd live there again in a heartbeat.

How's the neighborhood like though you like the feel of bushwick?

Oh, yeah I dig it. I'm can walk to the Knickerbocker M station next to the Burger King, right near Myrtle and Knickerbocker. I love the neighborhood. It still has a community vibe and isn't completely gentrified like Williamsburg :gag:.

Yeah I don't really mess with Yonkers like that, but as long as you get more inland, you get some nicer homes...especially closer to North Yonkers.

Tuckahoe Road is one thing...but living in Tuckahoe is another. I'd love to live in Tuckahoe if I could afford the homes there. It's very quiet and suburban but like a 25- minute train ride to GC.

i want to leave ny but i want to be close enough to still come whenever i want. right now me and wifey have a 10 year plan to buy a home. working on credit scores and eliminating her student loans and my irs debt and hopefully by the time im 40 we can go somewhere nice. im getting tired of living in this city even tho i love everything else about it besides cost of living.

The projects in the Bronx and Harlem is really resisting any type of full on gentrification.

Queens is too tight knit/private ownership.

So I believe unless we see some type of real estate boom the gentrification will just be pushing deeper and deeper into brooklyn. They're banging on on the door of East New York right now.

The projects in East Harlem seems to present more of a problem than "regular" Harlem, which has been booming with real estate. In East Harlem, the projects are just too fukkin dense to put up any real luxury or "affordable" housing. You dont wanna look out your window and across the street is ratchet housing.

The BX will be a challenge also because of the sheer number of projects, especially as you go further East. Brooklyn is not only do-able, but its happening as we speak. Watch East NY turn into a "city" suburb. The properties are just so ripe (those two floor, 2 family brick homes) and the ones in need of repair can be fixed up alot quicker than it takes to put up a big building. Even tho getting out there sucks (3 train to nowhere), I think the people who eventually move out there will love the inaccessibility (via public transportation) because its keeps certain "types" :mjpls: out, meaning that your have to go out of your way to get out there, like it is now

Here's the thing man...you gotta be careful what you wish for.
When you're used to living that NY life, it's hard to adjust. I lived in Cali for a short while and I thought it would be nice. But you don't realize that when you have something new, it comes with things you might not like. So in Cali the weather was good, but the food sucked. And the music wasn't my thing. And the people didn't understand some of my mentality or lingo or jokes. I mean these are small things. And you can get used to them. But it's an adjustment most don't think about.

There ain't no Dominicans in LA bro. Unless they're on the Dodgers. And forget about morir soñando and mangu.

I really wish you well on your plans. You seem like a cool dude. Moving upstate or whatever can be good. But if you're a Dominican thinking about relocating to like...Omaha....te jodiste. Hahaha.

I hear you. Portchester is actually getting nicer. My uncle owns 3 houses out there. I used to go eat at Pollo a la Brasa. It's not as good as it used to be. Next door there's Q Barbecue. They're good. I eat there like once a month. There's this dirty bar out there that has the best pizza. Nobody really knows about it tho. That town has a lot of great restaurants man. People drive in from Greenwich all the time. And Mario Batali has a store there. Forgot what it's called. Tarry something. Tarry Market?

Nikkas in here talking about paying $3,000 for rent :wtf: In Philly $3,000 will get you a 3 bedroom luxury loft apartment in center city. Then you can go back to NYC on the weekends if you want because its so close.

philly is a little farther than what im looking for. my wife's cousin lives in ridgefield, nj and she has other fam in edgewater and cliffside park. somewhere where i can get in my car and drive to manhattan in less than an hour if my grandparents or parents need anything. the farthest i would go is maybe haverstraw, ny. who knows what my situation will be in 10 years tho? maybe philly would be my best choice. i have alot of friends that moved to PA.
