I truly believe it's a coincidence, simply because, well, @daze23 posted a pic of another Kavon Fortin and another guy named Kavon, and after hearing of this I went about for a few minutes to see how many Kavon's and Fortin's I could find.

Now I'm no master of video game programming, but from the amount of profiling I did, I noticed patterns in the kinds of names I was seeing. Obviously the Jamal's and Kavon's were black, the Hong's and Lee's were Asian, etc. for each race they've included. I think they have certain first and last names piled into the database and tied to certain races(and obviously sexes) and then the NPC's names and extra info are just doled out randomly. None of the Kavon's I found were wearing hoodies or were drug dealers.

On top of that, I haven't seen anyone going out and doing the mission and coming up with the same results. It's a side-mission in a Gang Convoy, which is a mission in which you initially are supposed to non-lethally take down a certain figure and after doing that you either Kill his back-up or Escape from them in whatever fashion you deem necessary. The game doesn't ever really force you to kill special targets(that I've seen so far), it's just an option that's there if you're not about that stealth life. If yall feel it's purposeful and was added to the game as an easter egg, why don't yall post links to vids of people doing the mission and coming up with the same results? That would be WAY more conclusive than this one instance in a game full of randomly generated characters. Until then, I'm gonna roll with the randomly generated argument, simply because that holds more ground to me. It's still a very :lupe: :patrice: subject but IDK brehs.

nikka, did you just use logic in this thread because you actually own the game and know what the fukk you talking about?

Interesting but programmers have a history of making elaborate Easter eggs. It's still bad form for it to be in there at all, random or not.

And nikkas still with the bu....bu...bu......but shyt:pachaha:

Besides, it's not like these games are made by a team of one. There are dozens of people involved in the process and it never came up ONCE that hey, this doesn't look too good? They couldn't just take out that Kavon Fortin name and change it to Sumner Welles or something like that? What type of name is Kavon Fortin anyway? It sounds like a poorly disguised troll. It's always funny finding out just where the militancy stops for some people.
I mean, I doubt they had an extended sit down to discuss how potentially offensive their npc names are lol

They gave those random characters the name too to make it seem like some random shyt....but the character for a specific mission is a black kid with a hoody on and his name is kavon fortin....that was not random.
nikka. Its an optional ass side mission. The character names on those ARE randomly generated. :pachaha:

I cannot believe yall are really reaching on this one right here. I mean, WOW :dead:

Why don't y'all just settle this shyt on the battlefield.

@The G.O.D II

I was only playing that capture the flag match yesterday to unlock the gun where you had to get a shotgun ribbon and raise/lower the gate on the caspian border.........I felt someone breathing down my neck and turned around and blew your head off for the shotgun ribbon and the unlock

Well in 20 years of fukking with Nintendo I've yet to be offended by a character or a random NPC in one of their games. That has to stand for something.

Yeah, they just pretend black people don't exist.

If you ask me that's more offensive than a dev putting some misguided racial stuff in a game.

In the case of watchdogs, the names are purely random. There is no specific character with that name. I have not seen a kavon fortin in my game. And since I've been looking the only kavon I've found was a white dude. This is a case of the Internet causing a big ruckus about nothing.

Ubi's reply:

http://www.craveonline.com/gaming/articles/700065-awful-trayvon-martin-reference-found-in-watch-dogs

“When a new NPC is spawned, a new name is randomly generated from a bank of more than 1,000 options — and it’s a random mix of first names and last names. Most of these names are taken from annual most popular names books as well as from building names. Any NPC with the name Kavon Fortin appears by random in the game and it is absolutely not an intentional reference to Trayvon Martin — in fact, these names were solidified in-game before the Trayvon Martin incident.”
