So explain why NY artist and others from the surrounding area (Fetty Wap) try to emulate the southern sound??...

Same thing as NWA & Ice T emulating the NY sound. Cats are sheep and shark what's popular. This isn't rocket science. Fact remains, the south is mostly ass and was super duper ass prior to Outkast giving them some legit cred.

I say Bamma to this day. I think cats from jersey are half bamma. I actually first heard the term Bamma in reference to DC cats. Doesn't make my post any less true.

Also, no one who's at all serious about themselves should be listening to Fetty Wap.

Any NYC artist worth a shyt isn't emulating the damn south.

but i'm a new york cat and 3k is in my top 5 dead or alive
That's cool it's always exceptions to every rule and nothing is absolute. But a lot of cats from new york suffer from hip-hop elitist syndrome. If the beat doesn't have a dusty ass vinyl jazz sample with some heavy boom bap drums and some pseudo poet rapper talking over the beat a lot of New york cats ain't trying to hear it. They disrepect southern legends all the time. Remember when them wu tang nikkas dissed the intelligence of southern rappers? And new york continue to boo up and coming southern artists like Jay electronica and Big Krit.

NEW YORK CITY

Some do some don't.

If a region claims to be 'running shyt" than the burden of producing greatness falls on them. And so far the south has been atrocious in creating classic hip hop. New York has been putting out since the early 1970's obviously the city is going to lose steam from time to time 40 years later. New York lost its sound and is steadily trying to regain it right now, the same thing happened to the westcoast in a much shorter period of time

The south created some of the most creative styles and sounds the genre could run wtih and and to be honest that region has the best sense for melody and songcrafting.

Shame the talent is wasted and entire region has been reduced to making retard music

Dudes eat it up, but I still need lyrics. That's why all this catchy music is boring to me, I only listen to about 3 or 4 rappers from the South.
