Soulja Slim had a gold record and he just started hitting worldwide with slow motion.

Big L was your average mix tape rapper from NY.. I'm from NY and Big L was basically what cormega is..

I actually respect your post and I do think Soulja Slim did have a LOT of potential but your argument is EXTREMELY flawed. First off during NL run where he dropped Give it to 'em raw EVERYBODY on NL was going PLATINUM so that says a LOT about his sales :martin:
and how is comparing L to Cormega a BAD thing??? Both very talented rappers. In his day L was shytting on legends while Slim was shytting on Master P :scust:

Exactly my point. You wasn't even born when he was on.. I grew up in the Era. If you think he was good, then listen to other rappers from that era.. Dude wasnt even better than redman

To each his own man. Him and Redman are both in my top 10, so saying that Redman is better isn't much of a disservice.

He was in prison when his album dropped and he just got signed. He was on 3 c murder songs then his album dropped a month later and still went gold.

Big L was average

First of all if you were so knowledgeable you would know he said he NEVER signed anything :beli:
and he had been down with them wayyyyyy before his album dropped considering he was on the bout it soundtrack :martin:
if you feel L was average then :manny: I have no dog in this fight but when we talking about hip hop as a whole and what's relevant to THIS thread you know DAMN well the majority of the FANS would say Big L was a better artist than Slim and that he would rate higher on a list about dead rappers :yeshrug: you KNOW this but you wanted to go against the grain like too many clowns on here.

Rap would've been a lot different had Godfather Eazy not gotten murdered in that hospital:mjcry:

People truly don't understand the magnitude of the power he had as a black record label owner pushing out platinum acts and not having to answer to "them"

they should've changed the name to their closing line in the video: "which rapper death hit you the hardest". cuz half of these names were :flabbynsick: when they passed. certainly not the gone TOO soon types if we're talking music.

in terms of "gone too soon" I would have to take out guru, mca, proof & ol d b.
and i'd replace them with cowboy, soulja slim, bloodshed & tombstone.

smh. they didn't even put soulja slim in the honorable mentions. you know the types that put this list together don't know soulja slim. that's why you dudes complaining should support lists done by people like myself, whether you agree with the placements or not.

as for the big l/soulja slim debate, i'd say theyre about equals in terms of status. soulja slim was more popular pre-death but big l had the better album & more skills.

Left eye? Hip hop?

left eye can really rap.

done outshined plenty of big-named female rappers on tracks like its nothing. plus she wrote her own chit and was supposed to drop an album on tha row.

Biggie and Tupac are overrated as shyt but why is big ahead of PAC :russ:

cuz big didn't drop as much material.

Slim could to and is a legendary artist out of NO. Lisa is known more for her work with TLC.

No disrespect to Lisa (Rip) but Slim should've at least charted
