What went on up there? Poppers and weird sex!
We're in agreement on season three and always have been. I posted the scene from the season five premiere where Marlon and Pops think that Shawn is a drug dealer, so if you couldn't tell, I consider that a great episode.
I could name almost every episode from season four with no exaggeration, so I'll give you some of my favorites:
"Stand Up Guy" (Marlon tries doing stand-up comedy and offends the family)
"Unspoken Token" (Shawn gets a new job and finds out he was hired to be the token black guy; the Good Times parody is in this one)
"Odd Man Out" (Shawn's old friend comes to town and takes advantage of him)
"Ted's Revenge" (Shawn's boss that was stealing his ideas in season three comes back as an IRS employee and audits him, forcing him and Marlon to hang out with him; GOAT episode candidate)
"All in the Family Feud" (the family appears on a game show)
"Raging Marlon" (the Hector Camacho episode; GOAT episode candidate)
"Independence Day" (Marlon decides to move out and get his own place, but gets scammed into signing a ten-year lease and his new place ends up being trash; GOAT episode candidate)
"Help a Brother Out" (Marlon starts hanging out with a homeless man to get inspiration for an audition)
"The Rich Girl" (Shawn dates a rich girl and Marlon tries macking hoes with hypnosis)
"Busta Saves the Day" (the Busta Rhymes episode; GOAT episode candidate)
"Talk is Cheap" (the Jerry Springer episode, GOAT episode candidate)
"Recipe for Success" (Pops enters his chili in a food festival, but he doesn't know that Marlon and Shawn accidentally put dog food in it)
"Fire!" (GOAT episode candidate; newsstand burns down and everyone accuses each other of doing it)
I just named more than half the season. The ones I didn't name are just as good or could even be better, but these are my favorites.
From season five, you have the season premiere and then......
"Six Degrees of Marlon" (Marlon ends up having to kiss a guy on his sitcom)
"Romeo & J'Leeta" (Shawn falls in love with the daughter of Pops' nemesis)
"Ho's on First" (Marlon dates a girl that's known for sleeping around; GOAT episode candidate)
"The Kiss" (Shawn and Dee go to a Missy Elliott concert and end up hooking up......or do they?)
"Misery" (a parody of Misery where Marlon responds to fan mail from a stalker and almost gets killed)
"Marlon Joins a Cult" (Marlon mistakes a cult for an acting class)
"Saving Private Marlon" (Marlon ends up joining the army while trying to do research for a film role)
"Jump!" (Dee gets fired; one of the few times the show gets dramatic when Marlon is stuck on the ledge of a building)
"Crazy 4 You" (Marlon and Shawn fight over a therapist)
"Hip Hop Pops" (Pops has a mid-life crisis and starts acting like a young street dude)
"Dream Girl" (Paula Abdul guest stars and wants Shawn to father her child)
"Rope-a-Dope" (Marlon and Shawn sell Pops' boxing collection to Roy Jones, Jr. and have to get it back when they realize how valuable it is; GOAT episode candidate)
Again, I just named over half the season, and some season five episodes, I don't remember that well, so they could end up being on the list. Season five is possibly better than season four.
