Maybe its me, but Scary Movie worked so well cause Marlon was used in small doses. Shorty cold have been grating if he had more screen time. I hope he doesn't over do it. Keenan Ivory Wayans was the MVP of Scary Movie.
Scary Movie 3 was funnier and way better than the Haunted House series. I get Marlon’s anger tho.

Haunted houses were cool but not very memorable.
His sitcom he had wasn’t funny at all.

Yeah Marlon has a tendency to overact and overdo bits at times, still a legend but on his own left to his own devices you notice it a lot in the Haunted House movies. Not saying Scary Movie 3-5 wasn't trash either cause they were. But I got hope for Scary Movie 6 and I'll be checking the trailer this weekend when I catch the new Scream tho.

Thing is Marlon is very talented. People joke but he could pull off Smoke/Stack if he wanted. His problem is he tries TOO HARD when it comes to comedy.
That's probably little brother syndrome of always trying to live up or surpass an incredibly talented family.
Shawn's humor looks like its going to work in this movie. However, Marlon's forced comedy in his 50s is going to go one of two ways.Hoping for the best.

Probably because he had people(directors/producers) reigning him in. Imagine the outtakes and shyt left on the editing room floor where he probably went too hard or some shyt.
When he had full control with shyt like Haunted House, you get the extra shyt because there is no one to tell him "nah, lil too much there, tone it down".

Yea those are 2 underrated films for me as well. 90s/early 00s was able to find a balance. He was silly in Above the Rim, but in a realistic silly friend way. I still think Shorty is on the lesser end, but again works in small doses.
I wish Damon (Sr.) would have joined the movie as well. A mix of Tony Todd's Final Destination/Candyman roles.
Would be a missed opportunity
