We all know about Little Richard life. It’s crazy how the black community was silent about his death

You went on a whole spiel that had nothing to do with lil Richard and his memory

Who BTW is not forgotten. He is etched into people's memory.
Read the room - superficially the thread title and the entire context of my post :unimpressed:

Gang violence...
It's because people learn music from their parents. I knew about Sam Cooke because my pops listened to him, and other artist from multiple eras, and that's how the classics are passed down.

There's people out like this, J dilla got stans that are young kids because they learned about his music from brother, or somebody else older in the family

I never seen Wilt Chamberlain play a game or do any goddamn thing, but I can't remember a time ever I didn't know he was, I don't think anybody did, because he was that big of a figure where it was just in grained in the culture, that's how black artist use to be, Michael Jackson didn't come out talking about, man fukk what James Brown doing, that's that old shyt, he payed homage to james brown and carried on the tradition.

Somewhere along the lines the tradition got broken
this is it. it is now cool for black kids to be ignorant of anything old. i grew up on sampled hip hop and my mom played records. some parenting got warped along the way with gen x's families. no cultural exchange

The generation that he was popular in has passed away too.
Its completely possible that people under 30 don't even know who he is.

it blows my mind that so many Gen Z Kids and younger are soooo clueless when it comes to pop culture before they were born. I fall into "millennial" grew up with no internet or cable tv and could sing word for word oldies from the 50's,60's, 70's and was privy to popular figures...

yet these kids have the world at their fingertips and music apps galore and barely know who Biggie was

When the homes got broken so did the traditions.

Everyone has their own entertainment now. Families don’t necessarily come together to listen to music or watch TV like they used to back in the day.

That’s part of it. The real reason was because of his crossover appeal during segregation he couldnt be seen as someone who would come into a white town and sleep with white women. That was an issue for his money, his freedom, and even his life.

He was getting then snow draws on the low low though. After a while though it became part to the brand, not even Coca Cola can switch it up after that long. He was stuck.
