its been years since a commercial us flight crashed and resulted in major loss of life. they have the safety down pack at this point even in emergency landing situations.
That plane went down in Queens and killed everyone on board.

There was a college football team that crashed back in the 70s. I think its Marshall or something. They made a pretty dope movie about it a few years ago.

Not a US example but this was a pretty signifcant crash that's still remembered to this day overseas. Considering how big Manchester United is on a worlwide scale it was a pretty big tragedy
