why does it seem like every February instead of celebrating/learning our people/history. We are always tricked by the media into discussing small scale shyt. Such as should we use the N word?...... Why are we letting the media continue to make a conscious decision to divert us from using this month as a stepping stone. Clowns would rather use BHM as a time to discuss the "wrong" in our community.

Black people give the media way too much power.

I think the small scale stuff is worth discussion, but the fact that there actually has to be a black history month is what's overlooked. Even with it, the lack of actual black history taught in public to private schools is terrible. But this is my gripe with history in general, it's written by winners and not losers. In school, we're taught about the myriad of battles and historical accomplishments of largely white/european/WASP interests and it's known as History...simply because they are the ones running the show in America and the world. Black history (historical events in context of world history in regards to Black people) is just Black History. Which lends itself to the white power structure and how the history of the world's people is presented. If you even want to learn about any type of history other than White American/European/WASP history you have to pay for college classes and most people can't do that. Sure, this information is also available online for one's own self-education but shouldn't have to be that way!

Black History is HISTORY period. The issue is that black history will not be taught in school simply because the students (who are largely white...even in majority black schools in America, Black History is not discussed and History lessons almost mirror white schools 9 times out of 10) do not care and the teachers don't care about the subjects or aren't versed in them and see no need in teaching them. It's beneficial for them to not teach it to keep young minds deaf, dumb, and blind to the true nature of the American empire.

I do read that's the point. I don't see what you are talking about because I know/am around people who are very aware and don't regulate black history to a month and work towards the betterment of the community all year long. Where are you getting this information from? What did you read? I can only speak on what I see and live for this, I don't have to rely on what someone tells me.
