Dude was mvp 3 years ago ever since then he sucks , his advanced #’s are awful
I've been meaning to make a post about this for a while but I feel this is one of the biggest problems with baseball in the modern sports landscape. There's so few players who maintain superstar level play for any meaningful period of time.

In the last 20 years there's basically three position players who gave a decade of elite play: Pujols, Cabrera and Trout.

For pitchers, it's Kershaw and Verlander with Scherzer and deGrom being close enough.

Everybody else seems to have peaks and valleys. shyt, Soto looked like a lock for sustained greatness and he's hitting .234 so far this season (he's creeping up and his OBP is crazy high).

With basketball, once players reach a certain threshold, they typically maintain it for quite a while. We can all pencil in a rough estimate for what Giannis, Curry, LeBron, Durant, Jokic, Embiid, Luka, Tatum, Morant, Kyrie, Booker, KAT, Lavine, Lillard, etc. are gonna put up next season. You can't do that with baseball players and that makes it difficult to draw people in. There's too much randomness and variance.
