SILK is living proof that NEPOTISIM has always been a factor in HIP HOP...basically MUTHAPHUKAS got put on in the music game simply cause they were FAMILY or FRIENDS with someone ....nothing to do with thier talent or contribution....

not great but i actually think its better than used to sound back in the day... i struggle listening to any rapper struggling w/ flowing or staying on beat. including more respected guys like cormega and old talib kweli. i would think this is pretty natural and easy

agreed and i never understood his sales either. in N.O. 'Made Man" is like a classic.

what is there not to understand?

- he made organically popular music in his prime that ranged from dope to classic.
- he had hits and popular albums.
- no limit was running the game and he was one of the front-men.
- he had a unique style that people took too. great delivery, whether yall want to admit it or not.

the only good point that @The HONORABLE SKJ made is that he lacked charisma. but by the time you realize that, youre already reeled in. and while he may not have had the charisma, hes very photo-genic, as silly as that may sound:
- he looked cool and had a dope look. PAUSE.
- the females loved him.
- the males knew he was a real nikka

if you put someone with this resume on a major label with the proper push, they would easily be the most popular rapper in the country right about now. CHIT, silkk was already one of the most popular rappers in the dam late '90s, whether this board wants to acknowledge it or not.
