This music shyt always been a finesse but they being more blatant with it since the profits are dwindling.
YouTube should offer more engaging content like livestreaming concerts and other industry events since that terrain hasn't been explored yet and charge people monthly to view. Like nikkas can pay to see festivals release parties pop ups shows and and shyt along with ad free content for like $50 or some other price points. That's the only how I see this working.

They're eating off YouTube Red/Google Play Music. They're gonna be working on getting more prominent content creators to make series for that paywall. Get that, plus them now offering live TV, the original movies, etc. Plus them battling twitch with the streaming and I definitely don't think the amount of these live 24/7 streaming channels of music and shows popping up across everyone's page is a coincidence.
Some of these big concerts are streamed. I know you can find a lot of Coachella, SXSW, Lollapalooza, etc streams while they happen.
