People feel like his first week being boosted by bundles is evidence that he needs gimmicks to sell now, ignoring that he's always used bundles to boost his numbers.

Honestly I don't even understand how physical bundles is manipulating the numbers and nobody had been able to explain it to me.

Now people think potentially botted stream numbers are more legit than physical sales because artist are throwing in shirts and stickers.

don’t understand this argument either…

if your fans are willing to buy vinyls/CDs or cop some merch that includes the digital album, to me that seems equivalent to back in the day when people had to buy physicals for sales to count…

It's a bad argument. Weekend is one of the top 5 most streamed artists in the world. At one point he was #1. Getting a good amount of fans to buy the physical copies is not an indictment of him as a streaming artist. He dropped an album without a real hit and that hurts, but given that he's stadium status I don't think it matters. His career seems to be completely focused on maintaining the tour viability now, at the expense of making good albums. Somebody in a suit told him that synth pop is the best way to sell out those stadiums and he listened.

I don't think he has, he only has two high selling albums in his catalog. Beauty behind the madness went 6x plat because of "can't feel my face", starboy was his peak and also sold 6 million. Other than those albums he's usually a double plat artist.

Alot of people declared him finished after the sales of his new album, but when you compare the numbers to his past albums they seem to be similar. Weeknd has always relied on bundles for a big first week, followed by a big falloff.
Wasn't after hours a big album :skip:

That album went 3x plat, compared to BBTM and Starboy going 6x plat.

That album is closer to the albums people claim flopped.

I mean the only thing he did that flopped was kissland, this site is just not rooted in reality. I'm pretty sure outside of like Drake, bad bunny swift, adele etc not many are selling more than him the past couple decades.
