I don't like this signing, 4/60 million but that's the market. His defense is on the decline, low OBP, going to lose power moving to shytty field, and will turn 33 in March I would be happier if the Mets had more money to spend to fill massive gaping holes everywhere else on the team along with Gradny instead of them pushing Granderson as their big signing and that they were serious about 2014 being a turning point. For the years, money, and player it isn't a good signing.

At the same time it is nice to be shopping in the grocery store again, instead of waiting for dented cans of creamed corn to fall off the back of the salvation army truck.

Man, he's a legitimate hitter that can potentially protect Wright and cover RF with no issues. 15 Mill a year is a steal for what Granderson will bring to the Mets.

We just need a good LF, trade Murphy and trade Ike. I'd love Gardner for Murphy though

My biggest issue with this signing is I'm worried the Mets will push this as their big signing and it's back to discount bin at the dollar store. They will say using The Mets budget is this off season 25-30 million, and with Grandy it's now at 22.5 million for a team with lots of holes and no Harvey. The Mets are going to parade Grandy around like they're serious about becoming an real team again. Look up the debt the Mets are in, the team in leveraged to the hilt.

That said, at some time or another you have to start signing legitimate ball players again and Grandy is a start.

Probably not going to happen, but the Mets should sign Nate McLouth to a 2 yr/22 million.
He's so- so defensively in LF, but he gives you some decent speed with a .320+ OBP. With Grandy; Lagares in RF/CF, McLouth will look good defensively in LF, and our young pitching staff will benefit from that outfield defense.

With that said, hopefully the Mets sign Bronson Arroyo and Stephen Drew. Also, they should offer Gee a 5 year/30 mil extension. I understand he won't be a FA til 2017 as a 31 year old, we have young pitching with higher ceilings a year or two from the majors, but Gee has a lot of value on the market. Outside of Gee; Niese is our only proven pitcher, with Harvey injured and Wheeler/Montero/Synder being unproven. If you extend him now for below market value, you can always trade him for a King's Ransom in a few years, if Harvey/prospects show to be aces/very good pitchers.

I know you guys will think I'm stupid, it probably won't happen given the Mets finances, but the Mets should take on all of Braun's salary. Braun's value is very low right now and the Brewers are rebuilding, I'm sure the Brewers would trade Braun for nothing as long as the Mets take on all his remaining $117 M salary( which includes a $4 M buyout in 2017). I understand Braun will be 31 next year and is coming off a PED suspension, but his walk rate, k rate, and BABIP has been high over the past 5 years, and will be a great 4 hitter for the next 3 years.
