so this guy really lays under the ring for 3 hours?

I wouldnt be surprised if there is some sort of trapped door under the arena floor.

Either that or at some point during the show they turn the lights out for some reason and have him sneak down the aisle.

This is exactly what they do. I've seen it in person more than once. Stagehands will roll out a roadie case during a break while the arena is dark and something is playing on the video screens. But really, everything is ruined seeing the shows live. Camera crews are always running to get in place or just straight up standing staring at the ramp for a "surprise" run in.
