What better way to start the thread off with Michael Jackson's Thriller album. MJ in the 80's was unreal. I can remember cats having those red "Thriller" coats:

But the album was unlike anything else and still to this day it's in a league and world of it's own:

Whoa!

Then Prince with 1999 (!982) followed by Purple Rain (1984). Prince had had a few albums before these but 1999 made Prince an artist to be be recognized and Purple Rain the movie and soundtrack/album made Prince a star:

Songs like The Beautiful Ones, Baby I'm A Star, Little Red Corvette, Lady Cab Driver Purple Rain, When Doves Cry, International Lover, Automatic, etc made both of those albums the classics that they are.

Great post Danie84! :wow::salute:

Some of the best music that came from groups like Duran Duran was Prince's The Family band. He put together people left over from Time and formed a new group called The Family, who also had his girlfriend Susannah Melvoin as one of the lead singers. Prince was quoted as saying "let's get some of this Duran Duran money". This music is just classic:

The cover to the album, The Family (the lady on the cover is Susannah Melvoin, Prince's then girlfriend):

And we can't forget these cats. Rick James and Debarge were the truth! :salute:

Rick James is so overlooked when it comes to his music:

And no one can forget Vanity. Everybody wanted to hit this back in the day. Vanity was like the Halle Berry of the 80's:

The thing that pissed me off about Ghostbusters, and still does till this day, is they never put Ernie Hudson in the majority of promotional posters and publicity of the movie :pacspit:

Anything by Sade = baby making music :takedat:
