I’m 2 weeks in driving my IONIQ 5. Dope car so far. So many damn features lol. I mostly drive in ECO mode but when I put it in Sport, I’m gone lol. Still waiting to get a charger installed at the house, but the free charging in town is working out for me so far

Was gonna buy a Model 3 in 2021, but bought a new Bolt EV for $23k out the door. For my next car I'm looking at used Kia EV6s (2022s are now in the $30k range), or a new RWD Hyundai Ioniq 6. The efficiency of the Ioniq 6 is :banderas:. Still have a WRX for the times when I miss the drama of an ICE car.

Oh word? I heard the sound system improved A TON with the last update.

And yea they still have the free home charger. Which is a sweet deal even with Electrum kinda padding the installation numbers.

I was going to go with the RWD 2023 SEL so I could get the 3k state rebate. The 2023 AWDs were priced over 50k so didn’t qualify.

I would’ve leased, so they were passing the $7,500 ev rebate through the lease as opposed the 5k. The outgoing models were leasing better than the 2024s also, I had an offer on the table was 36 months 10k miles for $448 per.

I guess I got shooked reading about the potential 12v and iccu issues on Reddit. Which ain’t that serious if you got a good service center locally. But these nikkas out here man smh

Yeah, the sound system is worlds better now bc the update changed to where you can control the volume via Bluetooth on your phone phone. So now, volume can be in 15 and be super loud vs before it had to be on like 40.

And yeah, my one regret is the Electrum thing is kinda shady. I'm going to have to pay $700 to get my charger installed. Still cheaper than say $1200, but they initially quoted me that. I talked them down a few hundred to $700. I'm getting it for peace of mind bc thankfully I can charge free at work, but the Tesla ppl hog the chargers usually so I never know if I'll get one. Been fortunate so far tho.

I saw those few posts on Reddit, but I think hyundai has some of the better warranties out there so I'm not fretting too much on that.

Did you test drive it?

Yea I test drove a limited AWD, in the Gravity Gold Matte Color. That joint has some punch to it! Fun as fukk to drive! What Color did you get?

Electrum quoted me 1,600 if I recall correctly
:russ:

It would still be cheaper with the free charger but definitely a bit slimy.

And yea, the Hyundai warranties are very long.. but idk, I just got rid of my Sonata. It was over consuming oil like crazy and the engine has a class action law suit against that model year. Despite me being within warranty and the only owner, Hyundai handled me REALLY GRIMY, and would not retest my engine for a possible replacement. My shyt was burning through 5 quarts of oil in 3,300 miles.

They basically bytched me and told me that their decision was final, if I want to communicate further I have to go through their legal team or file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I’ve never had a company carry me like that.

I think the ioniq 6 is so dope, I was still tempted to get one despite all of this, but in the end I couldn’t trust it. For shyts and giggles, I called all the service centers near me to ask if they could service EVs, and they seemed clueless. And all had backlogs of service appointment dates. My closest dealership said the earliest service date they had was Jan 2nd.
