Blew my knee out and realized shyt wasn't realistic, and I was being looked at by several D1 schools. Still got a couple offers from a few D-2 & local CC, but I was realistic. My knees were shot, and I wasn't going anywhere with it. I opted to take one of my academic scholarships that covered 60% of my tuition to a great college that would best set me up for my intended career. Got a couple of friends that never moved on past the hoop dreams. It's about maturity. It just comes later for some than others.
The saddest thing is so many guys believe the only way to success, riches and women are athletics and entertainment, when that's not the case. The quickest and most likely enjoyable scenario? Sure. The most likely to fail due to factors outside of your control? Easily. All it takes is politics...crappy genetics...or an untimely injury.

nah breh... it's easier to make the NBA than the NFL.
there are a few, if any kids right now fresh out of HS, that could've ever played in the NFL...regardless of any type of rules restricting it.... HSBasketball is littered with them.
with basketball, there are plenty of outlets to work your way into the NBA... aint no D league, Euroball/China, CBA, Drew League or any of that for Football.

you do know ppl have made it to the NFL from arena football, UFL, and the canadian football league rightcan't cosign.

then on top of that, you don't have to be freakishly tall (6"4 & up) to play football. plenty of 5"9 azz nikkas in the NFL.

let's talk about how some someone who does get a D1 scholarship...but doesn't get drafted has exponentially more options to play pro basketball than someone who played football just because of how centralized it is as a sport.

Well thats your opinion and I see where you coming from. But I know more than a few dudes who didnt get drafted by NFL and still ended up on a NFL team without ever having to go learn a new language

there are 22 positions to fill on an NFL roster...it'll have the numbers just because.
NBA has an official minor league system, along with multiple pro leagues around the world...can't really say the same for football outside of the Arena League, CFL and UFL.
for many dudes playing football, it's pretty much NFL or get a 9-5... not the same with a basketball player.
