Good thread. Dap+Rep'd
And yeah Liberia didn't go to complete shyt until the USA/West pulled what it always pulls.
1. Maybe the usa/west leans on them not to. Because the usa/west only works when resources are cheap/plentiful. Then again the leaders in Liberia might just not be thinking about doing that.
For questions 2&3.. I think it happened mostly because Africans are just very welcoming. And by being so welcoming, are open to outsiders ideas. That and you also have to figure...the African way of doing things wasn't really able to beat back those outside ideas. When those outside ideas were forced upon the Africans. So there is bound to be some inferiority complex buried deep.

You told no lies
My observation then becomes all of this is still happening under successive leadership... so the question then becomes what are the dynamics of Liberia that would cause this to continually occur.
giving away the natural resources and taking on bad debt
1. Why aren't the rubber tree feilds taken from the U.S. corperation firestone with latex production and processing done & sold in/from liberia? (Then & Now)
practice a elitist idealolgy towards the indiginous groups and looked at them as "uncivilized".
2. Why does the European cultural cannon(academia, religion, media, attire, etc) carry so much pull among Liberian(African) people to the point were they denigrate their own African culture? (Then & Now)
missionaries to come in and corrupt indigenous people
3. Why do Liberian(African) people allow foreign proselytizers(religious,NGO's, etc.) to run rampant throughout the populous undermining the culture of the people? (Then & Now)
Getting the right answer depends on asking the right questions. Hopefully I asked the right questions.![]()

dude getting all butt hurt about my post. I'm African American but I'm around a lot of West Africans so I hear/learn quite a bit
. Not in a hateful sense but more so in the sense that Liberians needed to be humbled. If you talk to anh liberian they will always tell you about how good Liberia used to be and literally if it wasnt for the war there was no reason to leave.
but your reminder of migration history just reminded me how I always get annoyed when people forgo the migration history of Africa to try and overlap historical points in their minds/arguments like all these entities on the map existed at the same time....
