i highly doubt the mayor is enjoying this. trump is a deranged psychopath. he wants pushback so they can chamber a round and start some shyt.

Bowser is 100% okay with this along with the rest of DC City Council. Not policing certain areas and happily letting repeat offenders go back to terrorize the black communities is a key reason (one of many btw) why DC's black community has dropped every single decade since the 80s.
Its been passive, open gentrification as a policy - and with Trump happy to be the bad guy on this issue and several others, they get to hide behind it all and say they tried everything. When in reality the vast majority of their social work efforts out here have been advanced money laundering if not wholesale incompetence.
DC basically cannot vote right ever. And somehow her approval rating keeps tanking while the funding goes up. Crazy. Etc

DC used to be one of the most firmly established black middle class hubs in the country. The cost of living here fried a lot of that - but for those in poverty or simply directly adjacent to it (and anyone who lives in DC is well aware that million dollar condos can be directly across the street from projects) - moving needed another push. What better motivation than straight up we're not helping you when it comes to crime. Good luck.

The main problem with all of this dialogue is the short memories, poor framing, and just reactive posture to everything. Vote blue no matter who eliminated a lot of basic, critical fukking thinking from a lot of our party. And beyond that, the people who are most protected are completely immune to 'failure'.
