Let's us know how it is looks interesting.
It's not playing at any theaters near me, so I'm watching it on my work computer. It's good so far, but it also feels sad & heavy like The Inevitable Defeat Of Mister & Pete or The Pursuit Of Happyness. Even still, I'd pay to see it on the big screen.

Here's a clear link for anybody who wants to see it:

I could tell 10 seconds into the clip that this was not written by a black American male.
yep. i sat down with this unfortunately knowing it was directed by a middle eastern woman... really just one of those movies where the whole time you're watching you can tell this movie isn't going to say anything specific and really has nothing to do with being black. looking back on it the movie title is damn near offensive. some of the performances are fine, but everything in the movie is let down by the people behind the camera.

Just saw this on Netflix. You can feel the emptiness. Went and looked up the director and turned out it’s an Indian woman

:mjlol:

Cmon Jurnee, as one of the exec producers, you couldn’t find a black director in CHICAGO?

Completely different movie, but similar concepts, A Thousand and one with Teyana Taylor did this better.
