Not joking...
Innovation is the key.
Even if you assume that under threat of imminent destruction of the human race that we are able to innovate a solution that can fix the issues in time, how many folks will end up dead on the way to that point?
Thats pretty much the only scenario that sounds logical at this point.

People's stances on climate change say a whole lot about em. :francis::martin:

lack of political imagination and/or nihilism is equal to climate change denial :yeshrug:

We are going to see some wild shyt in our life time brehs. Is anyone else having second thoughts about bringing children into this world?

I have been reading articles about how we are currently on a path towards an extinction level event from climate change and I am honestly shook. When I first came to grips with the state of the climate I went through a very dark phase of depression. I am not sure what, if anything can be done to mitigate the most severe impacts of climate change at this point. As a species It seems we are obsessed with economic growth and aren't spiritually or psychologically evolved to coexist with this planet without destroying it at the same time.

This is actually common amongst climatologists. :wow:

Climate Scientists Are Dealing With Psychological Problems

If only they knew as much about the topic as our resident Trump supporters. :blessed:

not sure if you have this opinion but
solely relying on the markets to create some cutting edge tech to save us is akin to magical thinking. We need a combination of market innovation AND stiff government regulation even if it comes at the cost of economic growth. People will not like this. There will be riots and MASS upheaval however, we're talking about the survival of human species here. :mindblown:

Yes, ignorance is truly bliss at this point. It baffles me how scientists are literally signaling the alarm for human extinction (or at least the collapse of civilization) and most people couldn't care less and are too busy chasing fake cheese on the proverbial hamster wheel. At times I think, if this is the society we humans have created for ourselves (where people are totally disconnected from reality ) perhaps the collapse of global industrial civilization won't be such a bad thing.

I don’t believe there is a way out of paying the iron price... and France recently reaffirmed this belief...

Best we can hope for is a market solution.

All riots will do is usher in politicians opposed to those measures...
You can’t regulate your way out of this mess in a democracy.
People don’t like pain.

... this isn’t saying you or the science is wrong. It’s just the reality once you add the human condition.
