You aren't getting much of anything with $250, except for probably someone's old Wal-Mart mountain bike off of Craigslist :yeshrug:

Depending on what city you live in, you may be able to find an old road bike for +$300.

I would say though, that if you're getting to putting your body to work on it, you may want to invest in it.

Ya you're gonna have to spend around $300-$500 for a good 90s road bike ..hit up Craig's list

First do an online bike/body calculator so you can see what type of frame would fit you

Just go to à bike shop. For the level of riding you described you should be able to get a good sturdy bike that will last for that price. if they dont Have one in your price range(probably will) then you'll have an idea of what's good then you can search craigslist or amazon for one.
I got a regular mountain bike that my friend gave me. Probably a $150 bike. Works great and for my riding level does the job.
