This really was the best console at the time and maybe of all time,
People don't realise that AM2/AM3 games had the arcades on lock.
Daytona, Virtua Racing, Virtua Fighter 2, Sega Rally, Virtua Cop..
They were all Sega exclusives...
Then you had the treasure partnership .. (Radiant Silvergun etc)
Sega's own games (Nights etc)
Panzer Dragoon Zwei and Sage (best rpg ever)
Plus the jewel in the crown - the Capcom exclusives partnership.
(Check out the japan Capcom line up if you doubt me) Saturn had everything first, better versions .. Plus more.

In japan and in proper video game communities everybody had Saturns...
Nobody f'ed with playstation.

shyt console with barely any original titles, block faded graphics, and a poor engine (they all used to go wrong and need replacing)
It won the war not because of games, but marketing to the non gaming public...

i loved(and owned), both of those systems, but all they did was prove hardware isn't shyt if you don't have the software to back it up.
i can actually remember getting the saturn when it came bundled w/ 3 games and one of them was virtua fighter(probably 2), and maybe even virtua cop? i remember playing the hell out of a magic and kareem basketball game. most people are just speculating off of what they have seen talked about on the internet honestly...

Saturn had the developers fam. The problem was Sega of Japan didn't wanna port their games to the U.S. because they didn't think RPG's & other titles would sell over here. They couldn't have been more wrong. Look at the RPG craze & explosion here since the 90's. Us Saturn owners were denied great games back in the day because of that.

Come to think of it...

I didn't know a single person with a Saturn. :mjlol:

I don't think I've ever actually played one outside of the setup they had in Walmart back in the he day. Sega should have just fell back after the 32X and stuck to doing software for a while. Then dropped the Dreamcast after some time passed, and people could trust them again. The Saturn should have never even happened.

After this thread I played my import Saturn. Popped in this game below. There's a PS1 version but I preferred the Sega one:

GOAT DBZ GAME!!

My pops copped like 80 bootleg PSX games for one of my birthdays and this game was there, everything was in Japanese :noah: took me the longest to figure out the menu but when I did :ohlawd:

breh stop with the fake history...the PlayStation absolutely BODIED the saturn gaming wise.

Sega definitely had a crazy lineup with the arcade titles and japanese piff, but that is where it ended.

The PSone's lineup is arguably 3rd best behind the PS2 and SNES.

The Saturn kinda makes me long for the era where specialized hardware was the norm...that era seemed to have finally ended with the ps3 tho

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
E3 was a monumental fukkup

Not even the xbox one E3 disaster was as bad...you don't try to Apple it up like that

Real reason why it failed? That's easy. Sega already had the rep of launching things and not supporting them for long...

The..
Sega channel
32X
Sega CD

All had extremely short life spans
This..PLUS they added the 3D capability last minute..it was supposed to be a high quality 2D system but they saw what Sony was doing and added it last minute...making it way harder to make games for and it simply didn't run 3D games as well as PS1..

From what I've read fam, I heard it worked but was just a beyatch to program games for it. If you look at a game like Nights into Dreams you see how nice those 3d graphics & gameplay were back in the day. PS1 wasn't effing with graphics & game play like that. Even the Panzer Dragoon series were :whoo: with the 3d gameplay.
