For whoever did the upgrades, I don't know if they will see this, just a question. Are you guys using any version control system for the website? I can imagine having a 10 year old database of posts and all sorts of shyt can be huge so keeping copies of it can be tricky, but just for any future updates and making them more seamless when switching between changes, if you do a git repo and then create branches for upgrades you can stagger individual upgrades in more incremental pieces. Also, you can do all the upgrades in the test and then merge them over when ready to put it on the main page.
Again, I never done this for a forum and maybe you guys already do this
