He signed a 360 deal.....He has debt. J cole is not rich bruh

What does that have to do with anything. Show me his tax return. What was his advance against his royalties? He has sold 1.1 million records in the us alone, how much money do you really think the label fronted him? He produced both of his entire albums, including a 2x plat single and a plat single. How bad do t you think his deal is? And if anything him being on a 360 means any advance against his royalties would probably be payed back by his college tour, uk tour, and the fact that he opened for Rihanna' loud tour.

He would have to have signed a deal with like a 2 million dollar advance to even possibly still be in debt to the label like that.

Right. They are up there as the GOAT working class type rappers.

Apparently nobody is checking for that. People like fantasies and shyt.

Well nikkaz come to be entertained by music

Most people want larger than life personas to be the voicebox of their struggles or provider of entertainment

Its like WWE...u aint watchin WWE to see some average joe mufcka...the main eventer betta be some larger than life or portray himself to be a larger than life persona if they want that main event time slot :usure;

True. But I think realness in hiphop is coming back a little with their lives being so open through social media. The flashy type rappers have a hard time sustaining success without bringing in some realness every once and awhile. But also you can't be completely real without throwing in some flash every once and awhile. Gotta have balance it seems.

Offtopic but wrestling's kinda shifted from that larger than life deal not completely though. The top guys right now look like this.

Just how exactly is a rapper supposed to hold a regular job AND go on tour? If you want to be a mainstream rapper at some point you'll have to quit your job once you start touring cause of schedule conflicts.

Also studio sessions can be long...

:snoop: at nikkas in here calling J Cole right now middle class

as far as still having a job while rapping professionally? It probably exists, just not superstars because it would be difficult to maintain that if your touring the globe, in demand for appearances, etc. Now people doing songs like camron did with I hate my job? I could endorse that.

The problem is the "fans" won't support you until you can sell them an image to worship. Then eventually when they get past their idolatry they try to flip it on the artists, like why do you have to be like 'A' be more like 'B.'

Instead of trying to squeeze blood from a stone, turn off your radio and go support your local underground scene. There's so many rappers out here who rep the ordinary man.

Theres plenty of money in rap if you are talented, make music people care about, and are able to tour. There is a lot of guys making a solid living off this shyt. Maybe not 50 million but making 100k+ making art is a good job. Kendrick Lamar is a millionaire for example.

lol @ having bummy rapper friends and assuming theres no money to be made.

there's no money in rap or health care benefits

Rap should be a hobby today not a career.

these youngsters would laugh they ass off at the mailman or ups driver because of his job, but at the end of the day he's more likely living better than your favorite rappers

Blu?

Anyway, I don't really care about nikkas 9 to 5 rhyming, especially since i'd rather see nikkas go the entrepreneur route if they have it in them rather than punchin somebodies clock. But yea some of these nikkas is on fantasy island, but "every man" rap can get just as boring and repetitive as anything else.
