If I had the talent and the resources bruh

See this is where we, and I'm including myself fukk up.

For one, you may be selling yourself short on talent.

For two, the ultimate resources are people/relationships.

We feel like we gotta set everything up to get some shyt going. Self reliance being fetishized is one of the reasons why we don't have the programs you say we need.

Even if you actually lack the talent and the resources, you still have something to offer...you have the vision. That is one of the hardest life lessons for me. Learning to just be the visionary instead of feeling like I have to do all of the leg work to see a desired outcome. If you got the vision...stay on that, stay invested, do what you can, even if it's small scale and for one person. From there the resources (right people) can show up. Whatever you do, don't throw up your hands about what you ain't presently got...

if it weren't focused on women, I'm sure it would be mostly Men
So this is probably encouraging more women to take part
Because they feel like they can actually do it
the creator was sexually harassed for 13 years while learning carpentry, and has provided a safe space for women like her to learn the trade while improving their economic condition.

I believe it
Like I said, I was part of a trades program where they went over math and took us on tours to get us into the trades
Unpaid but they gave us gas cards every week
and a woman who was part of it got sexuxall harrased

So on that I definitely had to check myself and my privilege

Now that you said what you said I feel even more bad

It is done by design.

Yup. Black women today are WAY more confident than Black boys / men because of the number of programs they have.

But the matriarchy of the community doesn’t help either.

Black Women Build - Baltimore - Open Society Institute - Baltimore

I was listening to NPR yesterday and got heated
Like why the fukk she ain't helping Black Men buy houses too?

Then I thought about when I was going through a program in Detroit to get Black people into union jobs

And a Black women got harassed
And had to check myself, because this is physical labor shyt, and if it weren't focused on women, I'm sure it would be mostly Men
So this is probably encouraging more women to take part
Because they feel like they can actually do it

But in general I think Black Men get forgotten about in this era of Black Girl magic
And we're lagging behind

If I ever get the opportunity I'll do something
Maybe in IT but I need to put myself on first
Unions do not want to be inclusive with the black man getting any skills op

Oh moh most def

Yup you see it.

Black men just gotta build our own media outlets. I like what’s happening in the YouTube space. But more focus on the business class. Cause a lot of black women are getting hired at big companies as diversity inclusion / editors / social media gurus.

Writing editorial pieces / social media post controlling THEIR narrative like:

“Black women stole the show at last nights event”

“Black women are the most “educated” (enrolled)

“Black women saved the world yet again”
