Yeah its sad when one of us do us dirty that way. I remember this convenience store i go to, which is in the suburbs, and this black woman was the first one out of every employee(white, asian, hispanic and other black people) to tell me to leave my bookbag on the ground or that she would be forced to profile me, which is bs considering nobody else does and im not the only who goes in there with a bag

Again, indifference is not praise. No one laughed. It’s interesting that you say what she said about George has nothing to do with us and shouldn’t matter but turn around and say that anything that happens to her that has nothing to do with us…is supposed to matter?
:gucci:

Dog, anyone who thinks black people are less than can die and I will not give a fukk about them doing so. Anyone. I don’t care if they are black, white, brown, native or Asian. You believe me and my people to be subhuman then you can die slow and alone and I’ll care more about burning my garlic bread. She was wrong, not us acknowledging she was wrong and attaching appropriate responsibility to her views.

I feel the same about ANYONE who takes a black life.. How about you?

Boarding my flight priority so I’m on the plane well ahead of other folks with room to store my suitcase

Everyone ahead of me gets their bags through and as I sit here now I see everyone else after coming through with theirs - suitcases same size or bigger than mine

the ONLY people who get pulled aside to see if their bags are “proper size” are me and the brother behind me :stopitslime:

and who was it that pulled aside the only black people to board? A sister! :dahell:

you gon pick out your brothers but let all these white folk go :mjpls:

there’s such a poor sense of looking out for our own when people are at their job, and rather than look out for each other so many of our people tear our own down

we gotta do better man… obviously if someone is wilin they wilin but you see another breh or brehette you should have their back is that too much to ask? :gucci:
Did you tell her this

As a black man, stepping into the airport is interrogation central. Random bag searches. Identification on printed tickets for stop and search. Just glad I haven't had my hair searched through.

We need to own our own airports. Otherwise we represent the structure set forth by others and blame each other when we walk into their establishments.

I think your sample size was too small. If you viewed the other 40 flights that flight attendant is in charge of within the same week, I don't think there would be that much of a descrepency between your treatment and that of white people. You may even see more black favoritism if you analyze a whole year's worth of data.

An anology we could draw on sample size would be going and watching a single game of Jordan in 2002 where he sucked really badly on the court like...

After viewing only this small sample size of one game, you might say Michael Jordan is a horrible player. But we all know that is incorrect because he was an amazing player in most of his other games. In a similar vein, you could be judging that airline sista too harshly based on a small sample size of 1.
This single incident pushed me to make a thread, but if it were a one off thing it wouldn’t have been thread worthy to me

I’ve seen this type of stuff in our community forever in all types of ways

There are lots of people in the community who treat their own like shyt but are nice to everyone else when they’re at work

I travel in a suit (no tie). Solves most of these issues.

More often than not, everyone (white, Asian, and black) goes out their way to call me "sir" . I often get free passes at TSA for minor things (liguids, gels, toothpaste, misplaced electronics, etc) and I have yet to be searched even once in the dozen or so flights since I started the suit thing.

Funny thing is that I started doing it primarily because suit slacks are incredibly comfortable to sit in for a few hours, so I ditched jeans/sweats/chinos etc. for comfort. I subbed out dress shoes for riding/driving loafers for more comfort.

It took me a few trips until I noticed the difference in treatment. But when I did, I hit the :ohhh: face.

Not a single issue flying domestically (dfw, atl, den, lax, ord) or internationally (Heathrow, pcg, schipol, etc)

I generally agree with this, although brother behind me was wearing a suit and it didn’t help him out at all :francis:

sister just targeted us or I guess felt most comfortable to pull us aside

This is real shyt. Other races look out for their people much more, especially Hispanics and Asians.

Black folks need to wake up but so many of us are c00ns and have so much self hate towards each other.

Not asking to look out but how about do your job & check everyone. It’s like some of our people see us and instantly think the worst
