The 1-30 Scale
Here is an explanation of the 1-30 scale I believe was invented by comedian Patrice O'Neal.
The scale is simple and replaces the 1-10 scale. The 1-10 scale seems easy and practical to use but you always find yourself wanting to put a decimal after the whole number. It also gets in a gray area around the 5-7 range because if you give a girl a six, then it seems like she could be uglier than what she is because it's almost a five, which would be average. Anything below a five just is thought to be below average and untouchable, but some fours could possibly be ok. But if you give a girl a seven because you think she's better than a "six", then you kind of bring down the value of a true seven and this is where the 1-30 scale makes up for all that.
Think of the 1-30 scale broken up into three parts:
1-10 = Ugly Women
11-20 = Average Women
21-30 = Hot Women
So you essentially have three 1-10 scales but they are based on what type of person they are. Once you determine what group a certain woman belongs to, you can then give her a rating in her scale. Since you have already determined if she is ugly, average, or hot, there is no need for decimals or devaluing the scale. So for example, you may think that a cashier at grocery store may be cute. Well most likely she will falls into the ugly group, but she's on the high end of the ugly group scale, so a nine or 10. You'd through her a bone, but on a 1-10 scale, you'd probably only give her a 3 or 4, which again, is untouchable. Someone like Natalie Portman would obviously be in the Hot Women category and would most likely in the upper region of her respected scale. I would say some people in this group would consider her a 30. She would be a hot "hot" person. Let's say there was someone in your office name ****** she's the most attractive female in your office, but in reality, she's average, but you'd give her a 18 or 19, because she's a hot average person. This should all be very simple to understand.
Now there is one thing that the 1-30 scale has in common with the 1-10 scale. They both can be shown on a bell curve of hotness against likelihood you're going to hook up with her for one reason or another.

5 is dead average - not ugly, not cute, not sexy. Just your average person.
6 is average with something redeemable. Average with an ass or nice t*ts or she's kinda cute
7 - above average but lacking sex appeal. There's plenty of 7s who have potential good looking but not crazy fine
8 - above average and sexy, the kind of chick whose got a nice body and nice face, universally fine, no dime potential
9- damn near perfect, but has potential to be a dime with improvements
10 - flawless and that's something that's not maintainable too long. That's like in her prime, full package.
