Took a knee on principle for a cause he believed in. Which evolved into tens of players taking a knee. Literally voluntarily walked away from 14 million. They thought they blackballed him but you can kill a revolutionary, but not a revolution. The kneeling continued. Normally :mjpls: players started coming to his defense. Got the POTUS to address it. Got the President’s billionaire friends to go at the POTUS. Got the whole league taking a knee. Whole teams skipping the anthem. Congress woman taking a knee on the house floor. Culminating in Jerry fukking Jones taking a knee.

Now we’re well removed from his original message, but there is no doubt that he won this situation. White people furious. Black people a little more woke. The NFL in an unwinnable situation. He went to bat against white supremacy and the movement he started is now a fukking wild fire.

As long as Black men are being killed by the police, he didn't win. He would tell you that himself.

that was never going to stop though. i mean, they even kill white men. at a much lower rate, but they still kill them. so at some point, you have to recognize that what you started has in some way advanced the narrative beyond just did it achieve the super best ever hope for (and unattainble) goal. now its time for the next man to pick up the batton and advance things to the next stage.

He wanted to promote change and so far there's been nothing in the way of legislation or anything else that has been achieved so he didn't "win" but what he did do is continue the discussion and continue it in the mainstream and if any real change comes from this some of that can be attributed to him taking a knee. He also revealed A LOT of shyt.. so many motherfukkers exposed themselves these two years.

So he ain't "win" yet but he done a lot of good :thatman:

But white folks cant continue to ignore it and are all out of excuses. At this point we've reached a period where we can confirm who is a bigot/racist and who is. Them days of no clarity or being anonymous are gone

Phase 1 - Raise awareness by increasing uncomfortability
Phase 2 - Forced people to acknowledge it and face it
Phase 3 - Force demons to be exposed and people to pick sides

Now its on to the next phases which will lead to the real work that has to be done. Things cant stay the same and things cant go back to what they were

I feel you, but revolutionaries don't settle. There's no compromise to be met on the way this country treats Black people. Accepting progress as a "victory" is part of why we haven't gotten sustainably ahead as a people.

They can and will now that the narrative has been changed to the protest being about Trump instead of the real issues. Kaep definitely sparked a change that will go down in history and hopefully continue in the way you laid out, but unfortunately I think there will be very little focus put on his message moving forward.

i disagree with this 100%. for a people who have only been free since about 65, and i’m talking 1965 not 1865, we have made tremendous progress. espeically when you consider the crack epidemic, war on drugs, mass incarceration of the 90s, and all the other bullshyt we faced along the way. we as black people have survived and are thriving. is there still a lot of work to do yes. hell yes. but don’t let perfect be the enemy of good my brother. black people, despite every obstacle, are substantially ahead of where we should be considering the circumstances.

I wouldn't necessarily call it a win. His original message is being lost in Anti-Trump and Anti-American semantics. Also, I feel like the way Trump is pulling strings and how it took an insult from Trump to get this reaction out of people, the majority will claim a victory when Trump is out of office rather than when ever there's actually some sort of social reform in this country (never).

taking a knee before the anthem plays doesnt mean shyt

a backup QB taking a knee leading to the billionaire Trump supporting owner of “America’s team” taking a knee on MNF means A LOT. Kaepernick FORCED Jerry to do that. That shows the power of protest and standing on principle.
