funny thing is weezy was poppin off heavy back in 2002/2003 releasin some really good stuff via the SQAD UP mixtapes, for those that had easy internet access

so 2k2 heads might have a certain connection to the old weezy, not the hipster skateboarder he evntually turned into

what do u mean we?

when 9/11 happened it kinda just snapped the energy and atmosphere out at particular stages in that fall..but the roc v lox beef was kickin off then nas/jigga..everything just erupted!

2001 was a type weak year for albums. it may seem great in comparison to whats been going on the pass 6 or so years. but back then it was a huge step down.

2001 was still a dope year but it was dope off the strength of beefs & mixtapes.

albums & singles were  as a whole. plus, this was the year that viacom began its monopoly. everything really really began to go downhill in '01.

Don't forget the Jada vs Beans beef and of course Jay-Z vs Nas/Mobb Deep. Definitely a good year in hip-hop. Seems like it was yesterday....

I remember when Beans and the Roc took over Flex that summer night and had the audacity to call out Esco subliminally. The Gawd called up Flex right after they left, saying 'they woked up a sleeping lion.' Who knew he'd devour the entire team in one single bar on Stillmatic freestyle. :youngsabo:

Clue was the mixtape king. :lawd:

Jada had us believing he was going to drop the classic of all classics, just because he was spitting on everything crazy. :wow:

Ja Rule just kept making these relationship street pop songs that were so infectious. :manny:

Ghostface blew my mind with Supreme Clientele. :mindblown:

We were still using CD players. :krs:

First half of that year was peachy, then the second half Death killed the vibe, and things were forever changed. :to:
