Rim running and rim protecting big and unfortunately a 3 and D wing that can provide a consistent 15PPG a night solidifies this team.

Games like tonight are prime examples on why Billy and AK need to just seek out who they want to pair at the 3 alongside Matas, or even explore getting a 4 and playing Matas at the 3. Patrick Williams is content playing this way.
Only gets up 3 shots, doesn't rebound, and his defense isn't worth the minutes he's getting. Treat him like a role player that can make 3s 'sometimes'. It's not even a skills problem with him, it's a basketball IQ problem with him. He doesn't cut, doesn't take advantage of mismatches when small guards get switched on him. Just content standing around the 3 point line and fake acting like he playing defense on the other end.

I do not disagree at all. I doubt he gets traded this offseason (partially because his production is not matching his role-player contract) but he may get better. Or not. I just hope he gets better BUT I am not holding out hope.
I've been consistent on this but I feel like picking a super raw player 4th with the intention to make him a guy, pivoting mid-season to win-now, and relegating him to 3&D was the wrong move. Why? It sucks to admit you got a pick wrong but if they actually force-fed him the first couple of years, assuming Mitchell Robinson doesn't injure him in the 5th game of his 2nd season, he would either be smarter on a low expectations team OR he would be so impossibly bad that they just would have moved on from him much sooner. Nothing we are seeing now in his 5th season wasn't stuff was saw in his 3rd and 4th seasons. Not to mention any time he actually gets some momentum going, he gets hurt. He might get traded somewhere else and actually blossom fairly quickly but its gotta be a low-stakes situation where he doesn't feel so deferential as he has been. I'm just over thinking about it game-to-game because we know he *can* be a good player but the boy has mental issues with his game. I was checked out on him tonight when he did the spin move on the little guy, lost the ball for a second, recovered it, and proceeded to kick the ball out of bounds. I just won't react game-to-game to a 5th year raw guy who will probably put up a great stretch soon and then get hurt. It is what it is.
Matas is gonna be cold. Get some weight on him, he got mad potential.
Need a rim protector in the worst way.
Newell would be great on this team. Matas is our future at the 3.
Chicago will have have an extremely big lineup if they can add athletic 4s and 5s with one being able to stretch the floor.
