The oilers will always have a chance to win the game with McDavid/Drai. You cant shutdown them completely, it’s impossible, at best you can only limit the damages.
And you have to be disciplined and stay out of the penalty box. If you fail to do so, the oilers elite powerplay unit(mcdavid, draisaitl, nugent-Hopkins, Hyman) will destroy you on the power play. They are literally killing the opposing teams on the penalty kill. They scored goals on 60% of their power plays in the playoffs this year. This is an unprecedented feat. They have the best ever playoff powerplay in NHL playoff history. No other team in playoff history has averaged a power play percentage of 60% in the same playoff year or in any playoff year.
He doesn't carry play like McDavid but he's ultra reliablee and insanely skilled. He's always in the right place and making the right play with arguably the best shot in hockey.
He's the best opportunistic sniper in the nhl. A pure goalscoring rover. He knows how to find open looks and room to score. He has a quick and powerful shot. He has great hockey iq and vision, he knows what to do and where to go on the ice. Even if he doesnt carry the play, he's invisible or plays a bad game he will still find a way to get points(goals and assists)
