I literally bought shoes just so I could get in the club
I lived down souf at the time, and some of them clubs had them Jim Crow ass dresscodes. They forced a young boy to hit up Express on a SaturdayNaw --that was the clubs y'all was at!

Op you gotta remember we(the culture as a whole not everybody) were gradually starting to dress back up 5-7 before an oversized plain t-shirt and blue jeans were acceptable club attire. So long sleeve button downs or cardigan sweaters were considerably more dressy compared to what people were used to seeing. Shiiiiiiiiiiittttttt I remember when we first got on pea coats in 08-09 people was giving compliments left and right.
