We were idiots about the DRM fiasco

I have no dog in the fight, so I'm not afraid to say the fear of DRM throughout the internet was just plain ignorance, fear and just pure Microsoft hate. The system they were going to have was nothing but pure benefit to the users. I know old habits are hard to break and new things are scary, but people were just wrong on this one. When game systems or whatever iteration of playing games there is after this gen, people won't realize it until every future system is like that.

Which makes the PC gamers even dumber since they love STEAM but tried to throw shade on this idea because it was gonna take it a step further
Its really amazing how stupid "people" get when they starve

Just imagine not being able to play your brand new game without having an internet connection, or needing to be online the entire time. You know how many people have shytty internet connections, or gets data capped, what if you buy a game and it's wack you cant resell it. your stuck with a 60 dollar piece of shyt! etc etc. the drm was WRONG. ill go to my fukking GRAVE saying that shyt! i dont give a fukk. yall delusional nikkas need to stop sucking msoft,off that! cause when they do or if they do implement some of those drm issues into your system dont come crying on the coli about it!

I'll be honest. Microsoft fukked up when they didn't make a BETTER Xbox 360. They tried to go away from what made the 360 great and tried to add limitations that they thought were going to make the system better. The PR was supremely fukked up. Now they are stuck with an overpriced machine that will be outdated in two years. No one did this to them but themselves. Sony didn't pressure them and still aren't pressuring them because Sony doesn't have the war chest and they are more focused on trying to sell their shyt TVs. When the PS4 gets some games, I'm going to switch over because I'm honestly tired of the bullshyt from Microsoft. The company has been disrespectful to the consumers since the day they announced this Xbox One. We are eatin good on Live now...but should have been eatin like this a year ago. Greed kills companies brehs.

Or the fact that The XBox One has sold more SOFTWARE than the PS4 which is all Developers care about because that is how they make money. So they would rather make games for the platform that actually has and sells GAMES.

Microsoft has published its Q2 2014 earnings report, and the company has made $6.56 billion in net income on $24.52 billion in revenue. Revenue has increased by 14 percent from the same period last year, and net income increased by 2.8 percent.

For consumer-related revenues, all eyes are on four parts of Microsoft’s business: Windows, Office consumer subscriptions, Surface, and Xbox. A decline in PC sales continues to impact Windows, with OEM revenue for Windows declining by 3 percent this quarter. Nokia reported 8.2 million Lumia sales during its latest quarter earlier today, and Microsoft's numbers reflect an improvement on the Windows Phone side. Windows Phone revenue increased by 50 percent, with higher sales of licenses and what Microsoft calls an "increase in mobile phone patent licensing revenue." Microsoft's Office 365 Home Premium subscriber growth looks encouraging too. Subscribers doubled to 2 million in just six months previously, but Microsoft is revealing today that the figure has risen to 3.5 million subscribers in the latest quarter.

Stronger Surface and Xbox sales

On the hardware side, Microsoft launched its Xbox One console during the recent quarter, and it has sold 3.9 million units to retail channels, more than the 3 million figure Microsoft previously disclosed had been sold to customers. Microsoft also managed to sell 3.5 million Xbox 360 consoles during the latest quarter. Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 also launched in Q2, but Microsoft still isn’t offering up any specific guidance on sales figures for its tablets other than that "units more than doubled sequentially with improved Surface RT sales." Instead, it notes that revenue for Q2 was $893 million. Microsoft previously revealed its total Surface revenue from the RT launch in October 2012 through to the end of its financial year in June 2013 was $853 million. This quarter's Surface revenue was higher than all of the revenue in 2013.



While the company didn’t provide exact revenue figures for Surface in the same quarter last year, the previous quarter amounted to $400 million. Surface revenue may have increased quarter-on-quarter to $893 million and year-over-year, but Microsoft also notes the Surface cost of revenue was $932 million in the latest quarter. In other words, Microsoft lost $39 million on Surface during its latest quarter.

Microsoft's commercial businesses are still growing strongly. The software maker notes that Office 365 seats and Azure customers both grew over 100 percent in the latest quarter. Overall, commercial licensing revenue was up 7 percent to $9.59 billion thanks primarily to server, Office, and, CAL licenses.

I don't understand how trying something new equates to being disrespectful to customers. You can say you disagree with their direction, but how is it disrespect?

And the Xbox one will be outdated but the ps4 won't?

Many times I've been playing BF4 and wanted to switch over to AC4 but had to get out of the moment and go through the motion of taking a disc out putting it in its proper case and putting the game of choice into the disc drive putting both cases back where I store them all before I could play. Kind of an annoyance especially since on both systems we have to install them anyway. Until we start seeing a price discrepancy of buying digital versus picking up the physical I'm not moving to a digital library to get rid of the annoyance.

But for real though, Microsoft was going with policies that were going to kill profit for used games for retailers who make almost all their video game sales profit on used games... As an international frequent traveler...and 360 lover...I took this comment as EXTREME disrespect. shyt, that bullshyt turned me off from the Xbox One because I knew he was the President. It's not new if it is limiting you from doing what you want. And the PS4 will be out dated in three years because they have the better hardware. And that isn't up for discussion. Microsoft put out the weaker hardware and it's more expensive. Makes no damn sense.

....You throwin all these numbers at me in favor of xbox... but it's a fact that those numbers are growing stagnant. look at what's happening the demand is higher for ps4's, people are jumping ship, their system has major problems even running games at their max settings unlike a well built PC for all this talk of next gen it was all bullshyt. They are already slicing $100 off xbox one in the UK and bundling a FREE AAA game with the system in hopes it spurs renewed interest. If titanfall fails to meet expectations then what?

No you moron.....you SHOULD have the right to resell your hard disc if you choose. If you choose to go digital, then you accept the DRM policies that come with it (which was ALREADY in place when you downloaded the digital version of a game off Xbox Live or PSN).

I should have the right to take my DISC copy over to a friends spot to play. That whole signing on at your friends spot and waiting for the game to download or even worse they don't have internet is rediculous and limiting.
