Looks like they're after fame and retweets rather than anything of substance.

The Deray blueprint...don't do anything tangible but just have twitter clout and go to the Grammys to chill with your fav artists

Its the Kanye West blueprint. Instead of trying to link up with some non celebrity business investors he was on twitter telling Mark Zuckerberg to give him millions of dollars because he knows that Mark listens to rap music.

Begging doesn't paint you as a person anyone would want to do business with and makes your business look like a money trap.

That brand is tarnished and rotting from within.

Bad investment, that company would need restructuring.

Yep, they know it will generate no money. Most people don't care, it will be pure non-blacks signing up to hear that shyt.

NO one with sense will buy it.

The root articles hashtag was damaging, but it's not what did them in.

There's like a symbiotic relationship between this new brand of "wholeness and being broke.

Spending all of your days whining about things and people you cant control and fantasizing about controlling them isnt a successful person's hobby.

Univision brought all those Gawker sites because they had plenty of eyes, but none of that translated into $$$.

I disagree. I believe that hashtag was absolutely their undoing. It took everything away from the image wise.

 Jay Z & Beyonce could also create their own web portal similar to the Root, without the negative stigma & at a much cheaper cost.

The way I see it is: they "save" the company by buying it from Univision and making it black-owned. Then they remove all the people they don't need or would tarnish the brand. That should be cheaper than starting from scratch.

So good PR and already built media firm to do with as they please. Win-win to me.
