I don't like movies where the only way to move the story and plot along are for the people to behave in comically stupid ways, and I don't like when directors just completely ignore the common laws of physics, science, and math to move a story or plot point along when the world of the movie is supposed to abide by those things. That stuff can happen in a movie and it's fine but it can't be a crutch that the story completely falls apart without, and in this movie if even one person behaves rationally then the entire movie goes up in smoke.

Send your child who is 12 or under to a store to buy enough soup for 19 people repeatedly and watch what happens :mjlol: . You going to have the police and/or child services knocking on your door within 7 days:mjlol:.

Show up to a police interview saying the person they want to talk to is sick and you doing the talking. You are going to instantly be prime suspect number one:mjlol:. Or they probably going to tell you that you not his lawyer and to get the fukk out the room :mjlol:.
And thats the issue with movies trying to pull a Shamalamadingdong is that you end up with massive plot holes and other bs that isnt logical. But that doesn't mean the movie can't still be enjoyed. You either take it or leave it.

The explanations don’t work though.
Alex’s house should be the biggest point of interest in the investigation.
Gladys can throw off the entire town, but can’t magically brainwash two more adults?

I’m getting tired of storytellers prioritizing the allegory over telling a cohesive story.
The concept of children collectively running off into the night at the exact same time is horrifying, but the execution here was poor.
Everything you’re saying is facts…..

Explain in detail why this particular movie "didn't make sense

The biggest thing that didn’t make sense is Alex’s family and home not being the focus of a long term surveillance. The fact they just hand waved his parents not talking is some convenient shyt. Other parents should’ve been losing their shyt and demanding answers from Alex’s parents. No other houses nearby having Ring cameras is also convenient.

But I still enjoyed the movie despite that. I’m only chiming in to address people acting like there weren’t some plot holes.

I actually respect the movie for including Ring cameras because it’s very hard to explain why things aren’t recorded in a world with modern technology. Most writers try to shy away from it. The cell phone alone has rendered most horror movies unbelievable.

you are just trying to argue at this point. LMAO

its like yall forgot this movie takes place a month after all the kids went missing. They literally searched the house and Justine had been investigated. And like i said, they covered it in the movie. It's like some of yall don't pay attention. They even showed them searching the woods with dogs and shyt. The movie covers the fact that Gladys was moving the kids around to constantly hide them.

now you're moving the goalpost to "the explanation don't work". Which is it literally does. :dead:

Haven’t watched but I’m seeing a lot of cacs trying to WEAPONIZE this movie DIRECTLY against Sinners :mjlol:
Sinners was much better, but this isn’t a slouch. Really good movie but it probably would have been better if it were set in a different time period, given the complete ineptitude of a lot of the law enforcement and the way the villain went about things. That would have moreso worked in the 70s than present day, especially with the FBI involved in this case. People in here are making excuses for it though :yeshrug:

Yea this could have been really great. The problem is with no real clear allegory/metaphor (not that every movie needs that but...) it forces me to focus more on the plot and even structure We spend way more time with characters who arent actively involved with the incident and are there just as foils. Still really good performances though). And when you're forced to just focus on the plot you can really pick at it more.

The advantage it has over Sinners is that its scarier and its resolution with the main villain is much better. However, I think Sinners clears everywhere else. Sinners is sort of elevated by its epilogue. Where as Weapons probably needed something after its great conclusion with the villain. Cause it sort of just ends.

Still they are different movies.

This is more Jordan Peele. Peele didnt have near the budget on his first couple of films. So the craft is a bit better, but that Get Out script was airtight. It made it so rewatchable that you could pick up on different things the more you watch it. This seems closer to US more than people are willing to admit and people had no issue pointing out the logistics or plot issues. I enjoyed both still.

I personally think that Jordan Peele film "HIM" looks kinda meh. The idea itself just isnt that appealing right now to me. However, I think if Peele won the rights to Weapons he could have helped give some suggestions to Cregger on how to tighten that script up or things to look out for.

Still the movie was good and is a success.

I don't understand why Alex would be a person of interest.

Yeah they'd question him but some of you cats seem to forget, we know we're watching a horror movie. The characters don't know they're in a horror movie. The kids are seen leaving of their own (as far as the police know) free will. Alex didn't. It's odd and it would warrant some scrutiny but not to the extent some of you are suggesting.

As far as most of the other complaints....I know the unreliable narrator trope is worn out, but the whole movie is a kid telling you what happened. It's in the opening monologue. So it may or may not be completely accurate.

As far as "Sinners", it's light years ahead of this (and I like this movie) but I'm legit confused why there's a comparison. There's a ton of horror in 2025, why these two movies?

Just saw it. Came in with high expectations because of reviews and the marketing campaign. Left out disappointed. I like the idea of trying to tell the story from multiple POVs but some of them I didn't care about or it just didn't matter overall to the movie. They could have spent that time building up the Aunt and explaining her backstory. The actual plot of the movie was extremely thin and didn't seem well thought out. They could have at least threw more breadcrumbs in there to tell the story without an exposition (i.e paranormal activity). But yeah this might be my most overated movie I've seen in a while. When the credits rolled I literally was sitting there with this face :francis: :hhh:
