Wearable computing devices have been around for a while now but these products have never really gained mainstream acceptance. However, a potential slew of new devices, which may be announced this January at the 2014 International CES in Las Vegas, may bring about a paradigm shift in terms of wearable technology.
Companies both big and small have already ventured out into the new frontier of wearable technology. The market has seen devices like the former Sony Ericsson's LiveView and Smartwatch garner little attention. On the other hand, products like Samsung's Galaxy Gear have fared better, but sales figures still fall short of commercial success.
However, wearable computing devices are getting more and more attention as the market in general anticipates the commercial release of products like Google Glass and Apple's rumored iWatch.

Archos will debut multiple 'Pebble-like' smartwatches at CES, starting at less than $50
There's one more interesting nugget in today's jam-packed Archos press release. Alongside the home tablet, scale, weather system, activity monitor, et al. is a very brief mention of a smartwatch -- a "selection of" smartwatches, actually. There's not much info here, save for the fact that at least one of the wearables will hit an under-$50 price point. The company is also apparently comparing the iOS/Android-compatible line to a familiar wearable, referring to it as "pebble-like" in the included press material (lower case, mind). If we had to venture a guess, we'd say the similarity comes from what looks to be an e-ink or e-ink-like display, but it looks like we're going to have to jump on a plane to Vegas to find out for sure.

LG Lifeband Touch leak suggests fitness wearable could be imminent
We love it when a leak and a rumor come together. LG's Lifeband Touch (as claimed by @evleaks), pictured above, is most likely the wearable that was hinted at just last week. The fitness band is likely an evolution of that which we saw back at CES, and at a guess, we might see again in the next week or so (unless we're made to wait until MWC). The name -- and image -- suggest a touchscreen component making this a swipe-friendly FuelBand competitor. Whether it'll be an LG G2 companion (as rumored) or a standalone device is yet to be known (we're hoping maybe a bit of both). Unless LG has had a change of heart, it's also likely to include an altimeter, some mobile notification features and play nice with the firm's Smart TV fitness/dance apps. What certainly is clear, however, is that there's going to be even more competition for your wrist in 2014.
