Went back to my old stomping grounds/ hood I grew up in and it really messed me up. The living conditions, getting the news that guys I came up with are dead/ in prison, female cousins becoming typical "hoodrats"(multiple kids, multiple BDs, no job, & bragging about living off the government), abandoned houses/ businesses, plus dudes just not progressing in life at all and what hit me the hardest is that a couple of my folks are cool with living like this! Then when I try to tell em it's more out here than our side of town, they threw out that "you think you too good now" card like they were playing but I could tell they were serious about it.
***I know about white supremacy and how it's set up to be like this in urban areas but it's still hard to witness.
I guess you could say I'm one of the "lucky" ones that made it out and was fortunate enough to travel, go to college, and see all types of things and it really changed how I view things. I was ready to go back to my city I now reside in after 1 day cause It hurt to see my folks like this and I felt trapped. I dont even know what I could do to help. Anybody else experienced this or something similar before?

i live in the hood, but i venture outside of it and stay away from the negative folks in it..

losers want u to be losers like them.

look u have to live your own life if black people dont want to change thats on them leave them behind..
