I lost 45 lbs this year (and kept it off) switching to keto :yeshrug:

Not trying to be an expert or anything but if you’re not taking in carbs or sugars and you take in a high amount of fat, your body is forced to stay in a fat burning mode rather than a fat storage mode when it has carbs and sugars to burn.

Worked for me, just trying to help :manny:
Or maybe you were eating less calories by not eating excessive amounts of carbs and sugar.

Wild concept

The part about staying in fat burning mode isn’t supported by anything.

I wasn’t in a major calorie deficit actually. I eat dense food (steak, chicken, ground beef) etc.

Sounds like you’re taking my slight advice more personally than it needs to be taken. Im not a personal trainer or anything and I’m definitely not an internet warrior trying to argue back and forth. Was just trying to help. You win this conversation breh :salute:

Personally not all. If discussing facts and data is an argument then :manny:

I’m on the same thing. Popcorn is good, rice cake with peanut butter is good, fruits like bananas are good. I replaced carbs with nothing but greens. After the first week, you’re really good. Now if I eat rice, my body feels sluggish and I’m full for a very long time. Not a good feeling.

Do you think that this is true if you increase your proteins? Like, I eat mainly green vegetables like spinach, collards, kale, etc, instead of carbs, but I eat a lot of meat now.not red meat. Chicken, turkey, fish. I’m genuinely asking

Just read about getting into ketosis

I dont calorie count but a day for me will be three eggs and cheese and sausage (:dame:)

And then for dinner I’ll do a dense protein (chicken or beef) and broccoli or cauliflower. I’ll add sour cream or guacamole

I eat low carb snacks (like these Atkins peanut butter cups etc) sometimes I eat low carb low sugar ice cream too :manny:

What worked for me was cutting out carbs and sugars and eating protein and fat heavy meals, so my body doesn’t have sugars to burn (the body’s first choice for fuel). But again, I’m not an expert. Just someone who lost weight this year doing what I mentioned

You’re basically starving yourself with that diet.

Calories in/calories out. Consume complex carbs for more fiber and have simple carbs after a workout. Cut sugar and up protein, fiber and complex carbs or go Keto.

- i lost about 40 pounds with diet and exercise
- for snacks i like stuff like carrot sticks
- almonds
- chocolate covered almonds
I find those snacks are enough to fill u up but dont need a ton of food. Vs the overly processed snacks that to me it seems like u have to eat a lot more to feel full
- its a process but the key is really consistency

So right now Im on the one meal a day diet but its sometimes tough to make it all the way to the end of the day. Not out of hunger, but boredome

Here are things that I can "look forward" to (spaced out throughout the day) to kill time

- green superfood drink (9 am)
- coffee (12 pm)
- ?? (need something here)
- dinner (6 pm)

Idk if anyone here has any good ideas. Maybe some green tea or something. Ive been struggling with this for a bit now

Thx brehs
There's always celery, you burn more calories chewing it than it contains.

I substitute sour candies with halved frozen grapes that I sprinkle (pause) citric powder on.

Slice up bananas and freeze them and then blitz them with some coconut milk and a splash (pause) of vanilla extract, pretty solid substitution for icecream.

And yeah, water will fill you up so you can do different teas (which a lot will have health benefits as well) or ice water with lemon or lime. If you're a soda guy there's a couple Bubly cans that are decent, I fukks with the cherry and watermelon ones, and they're zero cal beverages.

Something to keep in mind as well is different stuff works for different ppl, no harm in experimenting and seeing what works best for each individual, we literally have the rest of our lives to work on it.

Man, I dunno how I could go without rice. Every culture worth its culinary weight has a rice dish, lol. Now pasta? That shyt takes forever to digest. I might make it once a month (West Indian, Asian, Indian hispanic, southern, etc.)

I'm also just maintaining at 190-200 lbs, and I play soccer once a week to every other week

O the other thing is I try not to drink my calories (unless its blended fruit smoothie - I don't juice, because it removes the fiber). So I don't drink soda, maybe have a snapple one time in a week span. I mainly drink water, or milk with my smoothies (grassfed whole milk)

There's a dry pasta that's made completely out of black beans that actually is pretty decent, you gotta play around with the cook time a bit and I've found that the less water the better, only use the amount you need to boil it without it evaporating to fast.
