Went this afternoon, very impressive documentary, chronicling fallen star and tragic joke Anthony Weiner's descent in his failed 2013 bid for NY mayor, during which, more texts and evidence surfaced he was sexting and calling women, sending nude pics, outside his marriage.

It's funny, frustrating, and just uncomfortable to watch at times, and a great showcasing of a lot that is right about politics, but much more that is wrong. As the 48 year old Weiner plays DJ at a Caribbean island event, or waves the Colombian flag in a frenzy, you can't help thinking about identity politics, yet Weiner's policies were progressive....

Yet, the man flawed as they come. Arrogant, narcissistic, full of ego and hubris....The second fascinating part is Huma Abedin, unknown to me before this documentary, Hillary's right hand woman, and forced to play the good wife to the petulant Weiner, as his second scandal unfolds.

Highlights include her initial reaction to the breaking story in 2013, her reaction to the Lawerence O' Donnell interview, and her cold calling donors with such charm and calculating measure it's disturbing. (To say nothing of the money/connections aspect of politics)

Anyone interesting in politics, the psychology of 'great' men, and just disasters and tragic comedies in general should watch this.

Agree this documentary was good. A person doesn't even have to be into politics to enjoy it. It was was like watching an actual movie. There is part of me that feels Weiner actually enjoyed all the attention he got with the scandal. When he was watching that Lawrence O'donnell from his home, you could see in his face he was actually enjoying it. At the same time his ego/narcissism is typical of many politicians. The kid that was volunteering for the campaign was right when he said he told his mom how is what Weiner did worse than Bill Clinton?

I don't feel sorry for Weiner, but I feel for the frustration of the situation. The one thing I can say it seemed his wife really loves him. You can tell by her facial expressions over the course of the documentary he still had her heart. Considering she is the Vice Chair of Hillary's campaign now, they will still be well off.

"Why are you letting me film this"

Weiner just looks up at the camera and shrugs, with some self awareness, and defeated, sheepish look on his face.
