I hope this is ill. Those universal monster movies have a spot in my heart and I'd love to see them back on screen
That Dracula movie was so mediocre.. I had high hopes for that but I'll still watch a sequel
I watch all of those movies every year around Halloween and I'm really looking forward to this new universe. Those movies are perfect as they are and they'll never be able to capture what those films did, so I'm excited to see what fresh takes they'll have on these characters. Going by the Mummy, it looks like it'll be a lot more action/adventure oriented rather than the gothic vibe of the originals.
That was going to be the original start for this universe, but they scrapped it. That movie has nothing to do with Dark Universe. I liked the movie myself.
So are they going to introduce Dracula in this universe? I'm pretty sure they are because he's an iconic universal monster and important part of the universe
Definitely. But I think they are going to hold off on Dracula and Wolf Man for awhile since both of those characters had unsuccessful movies in recent times. To me, when Dracula shows up that's when the shyt is really going to start going down. Dracula showing up is like Thanos in the Marvel movies or Darkseid in the DC movies showing up.
In the 80s we had an updated version of those monsters with the monster squad .... Been wanting them back on the big screen ever since
I frankenstein was so trash too.
I hope universal can nail it at some point and bring a good macbre gothic style to thier universe of monsters.
Hopefully they make the monsters, real monsters as well.
Yeah we got that with Penny Dreadful so it can be done with a dark, serious Gothic tone and be successful.
Penny Dreadful already covered this shyt and quite well. Went into the origin of Dracula, Frankenstein and his monster, (John Clare's speech still makes my eyes sweat), The Wolfman and his origin, and Dorian Grey I'll still check this out.
I feel the same way about the Universal monsters so i am going into this with cautious optimism.
Sure, that Dracula Unleashed movie sucked but TOm Cruise rarely does me wrong when it comes to action flicks and the rest of the actors/directors they have gathered to work on the extended universe are all top notch.
Mummy looks okay....but not great. Still I'm going to see it.
Not a Depp fan though
What does this all build up to?
Like MCU built up to Avengers.
What's the end game? When does it stop?
Do we get a 'team up' movie?
Also cannot wait for a real deal Dracula movie.
I'm kinda curious about this too, like who is the final villain that so tough all these other monsters have to come together to fight?
I say it should be Dracula
