My mother taught me the value of being a solo operator.
I always wondered why she chose to be a single parent to me when I was a kid. I saw how she had it together and had her own stuff and struggled (when needed) to make sure ends were met and that I had what I needed.
She taught me to have a heart for people, but keep it well protected and to keep those that haven't earned it at an arms distance.
She taught me that it's okay to be strong and stern and sometimes mean if it leads to people respecting you and not trying any dumb shyt.
She also taught me that loyalty is everything when she pretty much kept me from getting my ass beat when I crippled some woman's kid after they messed with me. She kept the kids mom yelling at our front door instead of serving me up to them...that meant everything to me. She took my weapons from me, but didn't rat me out.
:salute:

I'll never forget that.
I love you ma!

My mom instilled in me to always have my own, own car, own home, own job, depend on myself, have morals, love yourself and a hot of other life lessons I learned via watching the kindness she displayed towards others. She's not in the best of health these days, but her teachings will always guide me. The saying "mama knows best" was/is certainly true in my case.

Hell we talk about brothers getting shytted on I couldn't even find a positive black motherhood thread through all the disrespectful banter and hate . . .

We(men) often reflect our personal experiences with women onto all women, judging those we put ourselves in situations with to be the mold for other individual women it isn't right and it does need to change, the change comes with men growing up and being more mature realizing personal life experiences should not consume you each person is an individual use it to grow don't let it mold you and permanently shape your views and outlooks because then you yourself become an archetype

I did eventually find the thread about black motherhood sadly it didn't go as far as needed maybe we need more contributions from both sides, I mean we all have mothers:ehh: so this time @Elle Driver i'm stealing from you
Does @Spotlessmind powers work over in this sector lol:sadcam:

I want the fellas support to, tell us about your mother what she instilled in you and how it shaped your views and experiences.

@Rawtid you had a year and some months to figure out your answer we waiting:usure:

I was closer to my mom than my dad.

When my dad was strict and cheap my mom was nice and used to spoil us when my dad wasnt looking.

She was a good balance to his ways. :ehh:

Nothing but love for my mother. After my father died. She kicked into overdrive. She started working from home after we moved. She raised me and my siblings right. One of my brothers has a different mother, but she never treated him differently. She kept everything intact. She watched me like a hawk. Made sure I never was caught up in any bullshyt. She helped me keep my sanity, prevented me from going over the edge. And I thank her every day for that. :mjcry:
