I think they're good at certain things. Jada (punchlines) Styles (social commentary raps) Sheek ( :yeshrug:)
But for the most part,you're right. They're not special AT ALL.

Why do people phrase it like this..."signed away" their publishing...

Puff TOOK their publishing...they were not educated in the music business...puff was...they didn't have anyone looking out for their best interest financially...puff did...

And for all these dudes saying they shouldn't have signed it...then they were not going to get a record deal with Puff...cause either you give puff the publishing or you don't sign with bad boy...

And then what where they going to do...go back to the hood?

So you either sign your publishing away or you just stay in the same fukked up situation you are in now while you DON'T have a record deal...

The fact that Puff took that much of their publishing on the front and back end should let you know what type of person he is...

I can't even begin to understand that type of greed

This is what people don't understand.

People like Puff take advantage of people who don't have a choice. The LOX were damn near kids. When you're 17-18 years old it's easy to get taken advantage of. It's not like they could just demand better deals. It's sign the deal we give you or go back to your situation.

I've heard 50 speak on how grimy Puff contracts are and that let me know the type of person Puff is. 50 said some of the contracts Puff gave out were just cruel. I remember Big Meech saying he went on vacation with Puff in Morocco and Puff was bragging about how rich he was and Meech told him he was corny because no one around him was rich. He said if he was a true boss his whole team would be rich.

It's kinda hard to put this all on Puff tho, I think he's just playing the game the way he was taught.....but still it's fukked up. Guys like 50 made a choice to uplift his team and put them in better situations.

It's not just people like puff, it's all people who are in a position to take advantage of an artist who doesn't know the business. It's amazing in a very tragic way how everyone ever signed to bad boy ended up, puff learned the bad business practices & you're right he could've went the other way but opted to be a paper gangster.

I hear/heard dudes who actually had talent & all they ever talked about was getting signed & making money. They knew nothing about publishing, fees, money to be recouped by the label, label percentages off of shows, points on the albums, etc... When you're dead broke & think you have a chance of fame & fortune and you have someone throwing a contract in your face persuading you to sign it history tells us it happens a lot.
