this is disrespectful, seeing that im one of the posters that made it possible for dudes like you to breathe on here. dont ever come at my neck like that again b.

back to the task at hand, the lox can go to the home turf of those groups listed and tear chit down. but those groups cant recipricate.

the problem is, you like to put random artists from other regions on the same pedestal as artists from the east coast JUST BECAUSE. you started out well, servin dudes up but then you got carried away and became a gimmick. now youve dwindled down to the point where youre making threads saying that dukey d had a better album in 1995 than raekwon.

its not too late to dial it back and turn it up tho.
Actually that's what you and other easct coast nikkas do.

Why do we know UGK,8ball & MJG or Outkast?
Cause of what they did.
Lox on the other hand were led in by:

"Now you got the lox: 3 dusty nikkas that were blessed to be signed to bad boy and dropped their first album in the time period that Bad boy had just released hiphop albums that went on to sale 11mil,7mil and 4 mil. That's an average of 7 million. The lox were featured on all 3 of these albums. They come out (10 months after big,7 months after puff and 3 months after mase) and sale 1mil. THat stinks. Even after selling out

they FLOPPED! despite putting out the classic Money power respect (song). Guess people felt they werent shyt.
Later after their flop, dmx whom comes from the same camp blows up and drops albums that would go on to sale 4 mil,3 mil and 5 mil in a year and a half time frame. Eve does 2mil with her project.
The lox are desperate to get out of their contract with puff. Not only is the ship sinking, they're watching their team mates sale millions with the street vibe they wanted to display in the first place.
SO
they run off to get under dmx's nuts where they thought they'd fair alot better. (to their credit, the label was ran by their managers/mentors etc Dee & wahh.)
They get there and put out the uneventful album WE ARE THE STREETS,possessing no classic songs and being boring as watching paint dry. The album sales gold even though eve and x are killing it.
They put out some solo projects having more success than they did as a group but still fail to become power houses. They consider running back to puff, jada trys to run to jay-z but in the end they just end up being overrated NY mc's whom their fans make excuses for their underachieving ways. THE END"

No one ever brings up that the lox were already locked in a slave deal with a bullshyt hood label(not RR) that puff bought them out of.

Not condoning puff raping them but this wasn't their first raping. They should have known better. Fool me once....

THIS^^^ is the crux of the problem...........

basically the record companies are not only like BANKS..but their DEBT COLLECTORS..........

their emphasis is buying out bad debts with the collateral being master recordings, publishing, licences etc.

If ruff ryders and their distributor Interscope (who got the bank) would have bought the Debt accumulated from the Bad Boy deal outright....

then Puff MAYBE wouldn't try to justify eating off of future releases, because a lot of record companies try to buy out contracts for the LOW (CHEAP).....which only causes the artist to accumulate further debt and more importantly still be submissive to the prior label......

in essence Puff like any other businessman is gonna wanna be recompensated for his investment :manny:

now the AMOUNT puff invested is subject to debate...that was the same argument Michael Jackson was making towards SONY (open them fukking books) so we can really see what's going on.....

also I do recall JADA making a BAD BUSINESS DECISION right on live tv......

when MTV was covering one of Funkmaster Flex Car and Bike shows back in the day.....the one that featured Wycleff and his whip and Birdman and his shyt

Im a try to find it on youtube...but JADA says and I quote as a response to a MTV reporter about his feelings about the car show

"Wow....makes ME WANNA GO TO MY LABEL AND REUP MY BUDGET!!!"......

I was like :dead:

that ain't a good idea......... I see artists all the time and I know some personally that would rather take the ADVANCES which are basically credit lines and go blow it on cars, jewels and byatches instead of INVESTING IN THEMSELVES.

I just closed a deal for an artist signing to a local imprint that gave her a 15,000 advance......within in hours I seen her at a local mall.....the byatch was bragging about how she already ran thru 1,500 dollars on a few tablets (ipads)...some clothes and a fukking air mattress for her apartment that ain't got any furniture....

I just :snoop: and thought to myself it won't be long before she gonna have to sell some a$$ just to keep a roof over her head

That's the point, if you choose a fukked up contract over selling crack you can't really complain about the fukked up contract afterwards...

Plus, the Lox isn't the only hood group that came up during that era, it's not like Bad Boy was the only label in NY and they HAD to sign with Puff or die starving in the streets...right?

The LOX would have been better off going to Def Jam in the 90s where Method Man, Redman, and others were, making hits out the ass.

These nikkas got raped so bad, they're luck they still have the LOX name.

To my Coli brehs trying to make it big, if you are signing a contract to a Def Jam or something, always get full ownership of your publishing, the correct amount of royalties, and creative control.

I ain't a musical industry genius, but when you hear about so many artists to get raped for their publishing constantly, that should tell you read that damn contract.
Easier said than done. 90% of rappers sign contracts with little bargaining power. Imagine it's 1995 and Puff Daddy rolls into your hood, talmabout he's going to take you and your whole family out the hood IF you sign the contract.

You signing that contract breh.

yeah but PUFF got the last laugh on 50 .....:mjpls:

33-Diddy-Bop.gif

When 50 blew all that marketing money on MA$E while he was running with GUNIT...and come to find out PUFF wasn't gonna let him go unless he come up with that 2 million dollar price tag :whew:

“I was like, ‘What you looking for for that?’ He said two million. I’m like, ‘Ma$e ain’t worth two million with two million in his pocket. Are you crazy?’ This is right before we went on that [G-Unit] tour. The principal is more important. … He was a million over what Dep was supposed to [make]. He could have made a million dollars out of it but he’s saying two million. … We could have did it for the million dollars. He could have got that back.” (“Funkmaster Flex Show”)

http://www.sohh.com/50-cent-reveals...for-maes-contract-we-could-have-did-it-video/

50 even revealed his "emotions" over the issue in a scathing DISS TRACK called the "BOMB" released several years back

according to VIBE:

"The nominal reason for the track's existence is Mase: 50 wants to sign Mase to G-Unit, and Diddy won't let Mase out of his Bad Boy contract"
