the lebron melo draft was bigger as far as star power at the top because bron was bron and melo had just won a national title being his chubby athletic self. darko was seen the same way, that three franchise guys were coming in. bosh and wade werent expected to be superstars like they became (and yea the gay ass creepin brontosaurus was a superstar in toronto).

this years hype is with scouts because of the depth from 1-20. some teams probably wouldnt see anthony bennett or zeller as a lottery pick this years so deep. its a draft that could create parity if these multi-pick teams develop well. wiggins randle smart parker exum gordon embid saric and the harrisons all have all star potential while that doesnt even include people like gary harris pothryss or cauley stein who could be serviceable starters, which is what you hope for picks 7 and up. hell kyle anderson and rod hood may not be able to break the first round. just sick depth.

Older than you. I can tell you're young because you think your opinions are facts. Who said 92 had more hype than 96....except you? I didnt want to play the age card, but in 92 I was the same age as Shaq and them when they got drafted. I REMEMBER THE TIME. I didn't read about it later. I was there, I know what the hype level was or wasnt. You're clearly confused and I told you in my 1st reply this wasnt worth pursuing. You arguing shyt with me that I didnt say or imply. The thread is "Were 96 and 03 hyped as much as this draft?" My reply to the THREAD was: "I think the hype level is relative to the time the draft is in". Meaning yeah, this draft has a lot of hype, but there are more resources to provide that hype as opposed to say...1989. That wasn't obvious enough for you so here you came with a bunch of misinterpretations, smilies, goal post moving arguments, and an overall lack of reading comprehension. :yeshrug:

And my point has been that star power >>>> technological advancements in terms of impact on draft hype and you have yet to rebutt that. Obviously it's because there is no rebuttal but belief perserverance is a bytch. :ld:

The 96 draft wasnt even hyped like that

I mean everybody knew it was a good class but only Iverson and Camby were really hyped up as great players(Kobe had potential but he was seen as a boom or bust guy)

Alot of them other dudes exceeded expectations

Is star power something you can take out of a box? Is it just there or not there? Can it be increased or decreased? Can it be generated by......

Star power is something you either have or you don't. No amount of hype or technological advancement is going to make Kenyon Martin or Elton Brand into Shaq. Technology, espcially social media, has advanced since 03 and still none of the guys in the upcoming draft are hyped as much as Lebron was back in 03.

Yeah, I knew he was full of bs. I've read up a ton on NBA drafts and no one ever mentioned the 92 draft being hyped up like that.

The 07 draft was just as hyped as this upcoming draft if not more. Players like Yi Jianlian were predicted to be superstars. If you were drafting in the lottery you were supposed to get an all-star.

On the low the 2001 Draft was extremely hyped to with guys like Curry Chandler Kwame Diop etc. leaving college along with college guys like Eddie Griffin Richard Jefferson and Shane Battier. But overall I think the 2003 draft is the most hyped.
