Were the 96 and 03 drafts hyped up as much as the 2014 draft?

It's very simple really. Back in 96 the stars were made in college. HS players were most unknown and an unproven commodity. Today stars are made in HS. There are more HS stars starting in college this year and expected to come out next year and make noise in the league than there were college stars coming out in 96 expected to make noise in the league. Thusly the hype was not as big on any level. So it's not the time period or technology or the mediums that people were using that was the issue in 96 it was the level of starpower.

Tried to make it as simple as possible for you. :manny:

You failed completely in that.
Let me ask you this, this hype for HS athletes today....you don't think that could be because with the speed of information these days they're more readily accesible on a national and international level do you? Like when I was in high school in NY, I didnt know or care what HS athletes in other parts of the country were doing.

That has nothing to do with the hype disparity between the drafts though. It was all about star power, or lack thereof. Info was even less accessible in 92 and 84 but the hype was still strong in those drafts because you had more star power. If Duncan comes out and KG goes to school for a year and comes out then it would've been different in 96.

I give up. You do realize the thread title asks if the HYPE was equal for all 3 drafts right? Nah clearly you dont.

I don't know about the 96 draft but the 03 draft was hyped as fuk. Lebron and Melo were the nikkas that started the nationally televised high school games craze. Everybody and there mother knew about Lebron before he even played a single NBA game.

Hell yeah! Them dudes were on magazine covers, HS games on cable TV, internet buzz up to and including video highlights! Man but technology, information speed, and social media had nothing to do with that! It was all Star Power right, @FTBS ?

Right :heh:

Lebron was a star as a junior in HS before most people had seen him play. You do realize that all of that stuff you listed, except HS games on cable existed in 96 right? :laff: And Lebron's star power is what made ESPN start airing HS games. It's not like the technology needed to air HS games just suddenly came into existence in 02. Just stop breh. :heh:

Right :heh:

Lebron was a star as a junior in HS before most people had seen him play. Yep. I knew his name before I knew what he looked like. And how did the word spread so fast and so quickly then? I'll wait...
You do realize that all of that stuff you listed, except HS games on cable existed in 96 right? Not to the level it existed in 03. Dial up? :scusthov: Don't act stupid.
:laff: And Lebron's star power is what made ESPN start airing HS games. How is star power generated, professor? THRU HYPE.
It's not like the technology needed to air HS games just suddenly came into existence in 02. Just stop breh. :heh:

Actually......you should stop.

We gonna act like Bron didn't rise to prominence via TV and magazine covers aka things that were in existence in 96? :heh: We are really gonna act like that? :dead:

If what you are suggesting is true then all the drafts in every era should have the same hype since it's all about technology right? Why wasn't there as much hype for the 04 or 05 or 06 drafts. Why did 92 have more hype than 96? Did technology regress? How old are you?

Older than you. I can tell you're young because you think your opinions are facts. Who said 92 had more hype than 96....except you? I didnt want to play the age card, but in 92 I was the same age as Shaq and them when they got drafted. I REMEMBER THE TIME. I didn't read about it later. I was there, I know what the hype level was or wasnt. You're clearly confused and I told you in my 1st reply this wasnt worth pursuing. You arguing shyt with me that I didnt say or imply. The thread is "Were 96 and 03 hyped as much as this draft?" My reply to the THREAD was: "I think the hype level is relative to the time the draft is in". Meaning yeah, this draft has a lot of hype, but there are more resources to provide that hype as opposed to say...1989. That wasn't obvious enough for you so here you came with a bunch of misinterpretations, smilies, goal post moving arguments, and an overall lack of reading comprehension. :yeshrug:
