kurt is only retiring from the circus that wanted to market him as a freak. and shy? hes a well liked well adjusted kid despite his looks by the time he meets charles. kurt was never broken to the degree he is in the movie. not even when he lost his soul. jean and storm are shells of their comic selves in just about every way including x2, but at least jean gets to have her personality explored. storm like many of the characters that arent rogue logan charles and max are only there to be identifiable, not true to their characters. bobby isnt the jokester hiding his insecurites from his perceived superiority of the other 3 boys, and is just.. rogues love interest even then, although, they are kids, they are also being trained to fully utilize their skills, but that aspect isnt seen in x2. first class isnt just about powers either. at its core its about a bunch of kids that come together realizing they arent alone with their skills and come together to learn to use their powers. why they killed off the most powerful of the kids i dont know. the xmen experience isnt just one or another. you take weak kids, and have them interact with their own and training to be better with their power as well as being people. we never get that during the fox run outside of deadpool
X2 video showing Nightcrawler being shy.. and being
very religious I should add (like in the comics).
In Giant Size X-men Prof X saved NC from people that were trying to kill him. He was fleeing for his life and was initially shy and ashamed of how he looked throughout X-men 100-range. He knew that people didn't like him. He knew Kitty didn't like him.
See here.
Hence his reaction in #141 Days of Future Past shown here.
He mentioned people being scared of him in X2 (video above) and that is a standard comic trope in X-Men. People misjudging him as devilish even though he is religious.
He is very religious despite his looks. In X2 he was praying every 5 mins of screen time. You didnt see this anywhere else.
And that is just Nightcrawler.
First Class is a sacrilegious mess. Shaw in the comics was nothing like the movie. The hellfire club would see no value in a war like that. In the comic they are all monied and/or powerful industrialists and/or powerful socially. They are titans of industry. They are not there to tear things down. They are there to gain as much money and influence as possible. Powers incidental.
Shaw himself remarked and hinted at seldom using his powers. Unlike in FC where he always led with them.
