The South Bronx is probably the most well known section of The Bronx, but I think he most "Bronx" part of the Bronx is the West Bronx (both areas are large and contain several neighborhoods, though).

But this area has so much energy and is so uniquely New York to me. It also where Hip Hop was born if you believe that Kool Herc created it. Home to Yankee Stadium as well. It is one of my favorite areas in New York and I could see myself living in some parts.

It is home to many Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, African-Americans, West Africans (especially Ghana), and Mexicans.

In the 20s and 30s, some really nice architecture was built there and most of it survives to this day (besides some buildings that were burned down in the 70s arson wave, though it wasn't hit nearly as bad as the South/Central Bronx). There are a lot of hills too, and some streets have staircases between them.

An interesting place overall, and there are bad Dominican chicks everywhere. There's a lot of energy in the summer especially.

To my knowledge, several coli posters live there

The World, but from BK
I moved from BK to the BX....it amazes me how much park space the the BX has but seems to have the least amount of summer concerts/Summer Stage and outdoor events.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
The west Bronx is essentially still the South Bronx but just the west portion that’s west of Jerome Ave (4 train).

Correct me if I’m wrong during all the history of the Bronx was the South Bronx only referred to the parts where the numbered streets are listed as East? (East 167th, East 158th etc)

I almost joined the track team in Midwood and Van Cortlandth Park was a popular place for us to go to. And I love the Bronx parks. Don’t want to be like Central Park or now Prospect Park.

Yeah, I live about a half a mile from there. I go jogging there almost every weekend. They can easily have a nice summer concert series on that field. There do be a lot of soccer game there though.

that's changing a little bit, but they have more homely concerts that the community is into. (it's also what they can fund)

Bronx Week is always great. Good weather, local schools and bands getting together, local food, local clothes, BX hall of fame. They had Remy Ma this year. They do that on Mosholu Parkway.

I wish Lehman College or Hostos had better acoustics than they do because that would be a bigger spot for musical acts to go to. Right now, that's the spot you go to if you really wanna relive freestyle music.

Will look more into this. I think also the city can put more funding into BRAC to become more like BRIC in BK. I think the BX needs an artsy area.

River Park Towers is practically full of West Africans. I would not be surprised if the building one day starts to break down from all that fufu pounding going on in there :laff::laff::laff:

The term "South Bronx" is used way too broadly in my opinion. University Heights shouldn't be lumped in with Mott Haven and Longwood. And I don't think Castle Hill and Soundview are the South Bronx either.

I think of the West Bronx as being everything from Sedgwick to Webster, and the South Bronx being everything below 170th st but more so along the 2 and 6 trains

I don’t recall Soundview or Castle Hill ever being referred to as South Bronx
