What? Isn’t Fat Joe from forest projects around east 163rd or east 166? If so that’s the the south Bronx.

But apparently I’m new to hearing castlehill referred to the South Bronx. It’s so far away.

Maybe I have him confused with J Lo. It's also possible he lived in different places growing up.

But anyway I don't think of University Heights and Fordham as being the South Bronx, too far North in my opinion. And the vibe is pretty diffrrent with all those hills and elevator buildings.

Fat Joe is from Castle Hill and I've seen people refer to him as being from the South Bronx
Remy Ma is from Castle Hill, not Fat Joe.

and the way people break down the Bronx geographically is just weird.

South Bronx to a lot of people is anything south of Fordham Road with the 6 train being kind of a boundary. It doesn't make sense. I grew up on 176 and Anthony going to school in Tremont and they'd talk about it being the South Bronx and then I'd look at a map like:patrice: if there's a central Bronx we're that.

Oh ok I always figured the cross Bronx expressway was the dividing line.

I agree. Tremont and West Farms are Central Bronx in my opinion.

I think because back in the day, outsiders would just refer to all the black and Hispanic Bronx neighborhoods as "South Bronx". Another thing is that a lot of people in the Center parts of The Bronx (between Webster and the Bronx river) identify with street names instead of neighborhoods. That's weird to me because the other boroughs rep their neighborhoods hard

it's supposed to be, but there's areas north of it that will claim it.

South Bronx is the only directional portion of the borough that people claim. Nobody ever says they live in the East Bronx or North Bronx. I'm convinced some people just say South Bronx because it's easier to visualize that than say you're from Morrisania or Concourse Village.

I agree, especially if your block is big time. Webster Ave is a big block. Southern Blvd, University, Tremont

That and between Grand Concourse and Boston Road, from a transportation standpoint, you're fukked unless you ride Metro North, so those neighborhoods are in their own world.

The hood dudes seem to do the same with then north Bronx and say uptown (minus Co-op cause they always specifically mention that place).

Did the 3rd Ave El service those areas before it was torn down?

The Bronx >>>

People try to shyt on the BX, but I love that it still has some of that old NY feel to it. My girl lives in the West Bronx near Webster and Gun Hill.

Norwood is a cool neighborhood
